"Illiteratty has that nice blend of sound that reminds you of folk favourites while creating their own contemporary lore.....like hot chocolate spiked with something fun and boozy." - Arwen MacDonald, Synchronicity Arts Festival Director -

"Deep Cove Folk Club"

“Earle Peach and Illiteratty perform original and innovative tunes which draw inspiration from world music, folk, and jazz. Their instrumentals are lovely and their vocal harmonies are crisp, clear, and beautifully sung. Listening to this group reminds me why I wanted to become a musician, and why I’m still proud to call myself one. Folks, it just doesn’t get any better than this.”

John Lyon, host of Deep Cove Coffee House -

Discography

Earle has released an album of his own tunes in 2008, a number of which are in the band's repertoire. It's called By the Flood and is available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/earlepeach. Illiteratty released an album in 2012 entitled "It's Getting Late". You can also hear more tracks on our website, and on the following Soundcloud page: http://soundcloud.com/earle-peach/sets/illiteratty-tunes/. Illiteratty's tunes can also be heard on Jango.  In 2016 we're releasing our new CD, Through the Mirror.

Bio

Earle Peach and Albert Klassen played together over 20 years ago in the well-known folk band Natural Elements. They've rediscovered a great musical connection, and began forming Illiteratty in 2009. The illustrious Simon Kendall joined them in 2010, Kirsten Daub on violin and vocals in 2011, and Mark Bender on bass in 2012. In 2013 the amazing Todd Biffard joined on percussion!  Earle does most of the writing, and his eclectic tastes are reflected in the many different styles of music this band plays. Influences are all over the map, but throughout there's a quirky sense of humour.
