Ill Lit

Ill Lit

"Somewhere squarely between Wilco and the Flaming Lips, Ill Lit delivers a deceptively upbeat message of heartbreak and loss of hope, complete with broken electronics and layers and layers of sweet harmonies" Indie Workshop

ill lit is Daniel Ahearn, Jens Fleming, David J (Kind of Like Spitting, Novisplit), Grant Capes and Carlos - always joined by a diverse cast of musicians from the LA, San Francisco and Brooklyn music scenes.

The band spent much of 2005 in and out of the recording studio, working with producer Michael Rozon on Tom Cruise, their 3rd full length, out now via the internet and shows. Full release TBA. The record is their most fully formed, heartbreaking vignettes of adulation, broken promises and the pale light of day.

ill lit construct harrowing, pop songs with concern for sound rather than genre. Call it American music, call it bent folk. Ill lit tap into an edgy, dark layer of earth just beneath the freeways of an urban, beat-driven Los Angeles.

ill lit headlined Badman's 2003 & 2004 CMJ showcases, played Noise Pop and SXSW 2003, and shared stages with Young People, Bob Log III, Clem Snide, and Lou Barlow.
The band van has more grit under the wheels as the band plays their adopted hometown LA often, and hits the west coast highways in support.

Tom Cruise was co-produced by Michael Rozon and ill lit in Los Angeles.
