Ill Will The Champ

Ill Will The Champ is a producer's producer. He was surrounded by everything from classical, gospel, blues, funk and jazz his entire life. These influences are responsible for his unique approach to creating music. He began flowing out of necessity in order to showcase his ability and demonstrate to others ways to "ride" his tracks. The child of that necessity was The Glow and the Grind Chronicles Volume I: Phoenix Rising in which he produced each track from scratch almost relying solely on his own musical talent in the tradition of Prince, Stevie Wonder, and countless other "truly gifted" musicians. He is currently working on Volume II and in the meantime continutes to produce for others to include the '08 BET Hip Hop Awards and more recently for George TwoPointOh on his acclaimed Turn Off The TV project which was also featured in the 2010 Believer Music Issue CD "We Bumped Our Heads Against the Clouds" compiled by Chuck Lightning for the Wondaland Arts Society. In 2007 he and longtime friend and collaborator Shon A joined forces to found Drank King Productions and they continue to push their brand into the spotlight with multi-layered soundbeds infused with as Shon A puts it "a whole lot of flavor". As a direct result of his thick production style it is nothing for "The Champ" to break out in song, crank up the violin, tickle the ivory, and/or make the guitar wine while creating his lush backdrops to compliment his sincere lyrics.
