"TheGaiterView talks with D.C. about getting signed to Island Def Jam Digital, his life, and gives a warning to all artist looking to get signed."

Joe Gaiter: Tell me about your childhood?

D.C: Aw man that’s a long story (HAHA) No, but the short version is I was raised on the Southside of Ohio. Well South Side, East Side was like my stomping ground. My dad was victim to his own addiction so he wasn’t around and my mom was a single parent mom trying to make it. I pretty much was on my own (me and my brother). We learned the ways of the streets and navigated the hood politics to survive. We were poor so we learned street solutions because no one else had the time for us. As young men we learned how to handle life through the lenses of our current influences Our neighborhood formed us. The streets raised us.

"Indie Nation Music Blog"

After a disappointing freshman release on Def Jam digital, Money Scorseze reloads with the project of a lifetime. Featuring production from wale’s production team “B.O.A.”, and strong features from Curt GWin and ROCNATION artist Sam Dew, this is the album that he has been making his whole life. This is why he has named his second album “Progression… The Life Project”. Though not foreign to failure, Money Scorseze has made even losing a win in his life.

Always as the underdog, he continues to overcome all odds and stare down every doubt with accomplishments that every artist can be proud of. Whether it’s choosing to first raist his children instead of pursuing his career in music or being shot in the face, Money has always overcome. Since moving too Atlanta, Money has been played on DJ Whookids “Whoolywood Shuffle” for 9 straight weeks, as well as performed at many of Atlanta’s mainstays from “Smiths Olde Bar too the legendary “Velvet Room”. Money has kept it all in perspective.

What Are Your Goals In The Music Industry?
My goal is to be a Grammy award winning songwriter. I love to create and that’s just not limited to Hip-Hop music. Songwriting is my first love, being an artist is my therapy personally. Nothing comes close to songwriting except for being on the stage.

What inspires you to make music?
The ability to create. I love to take a sound and give it words. Or to take an emotion and make it a movie. Bringing these songs to life is what helps a lot of people get through their lives whatever they may be dealing with. My kids inspire me to make music as well. I really feel that having kids at 16 and choosing to raise them first has actually grown me creatively and made me a better artist.

Tell us about this project?
Progression… The Life Project is an album that shows my growth from my first project. My first project on Def Jam’s imprint was what I thought people wanted to hear. On this project I’m demonstrating my growth as an artist and a songwriter.

PTLP starts with one sound and seamlessly progress’ to another vibe. It embodies the grind of Atlanta days but also the feel of Atlanta nights. I talk about how the colder temps in the winter and the fashion looks like London in Atlanta. So many songs that encompass my experience’s since leaving Ohio and moving to Atlanta are in this project.

What makes you different from other artists?
I’m honest and a real person just like my listeners. You won’t get an illusion from me. If there are things going on in the culture that effect us all then I will be that voice for those who dont have one. I have no gimmick, and I pride myself on treating Hip-Hop like a musician does his instruments. I do with rap music what Stevie Wonder does on the Piano.

Who were your musical inspirations growing up?
Honestly I loved Puffy’s first album and the cinema-like feel of his music videos. He’s more than a rapper/artist, he’s an entertainer and I dig that. Jay-z has always been a major influence as well as Biggie and Tupac. - Indie Nation

Bio

IT STARTED WITH A BEAT

And it grew from there. Moneii's passion for music started early and grew from simple intrigue and inspiration, to creative ways of communicating his imagination audibly. Being an artist has been a long developing road that started as a youth, and continued through life. Even fatherhood has acted as inspiration to see the world through the eyes of his growing children. It's kept Moneii in touch with what's current.

Hailing from Columbus, OH Moneii's motivation has remained the same. To paint pictures with music and make movies with lyrics. His music which is like to a Michelangelo picture of a modern day ghetto.
