Imaan was born in Tehran the capital of Iran and lived there for the first 2yrs of his life before moving to Canada. The youngest of three boys Imaans' life was already destined to be different from that of his two siblings. Unbeknownst to him this in turn would prove to be a key point in the path of this young lyricist to be.

His father played a lot of Persian music throughout the house but it was his uncle who had the vast collection of melodies, vocals, and instrumentsfrom the many Persian artists he listened to. His mother and Father instilled values and lessons of being able to live vicariously through the success and failures of those around him. This was yet another stepping stone to a career he was unaware of.

When he was just a child, Imaans appreciation for music started to blossom as he would dance for family friends and neighborhood onlookers. With influences by a wide array of musical entertainers ranging from Michael Jackson, Sting, NAS, Phil Collins, and Tupac, Imaan was inundated into hisWestern culture of music. By the time he was 14 his family had left Canada to move to New York City, his brother Ali (now his manager) noticed Imaans interest in writing lyrics and in so they recorded two songs with a neighborhood friend of his.

Just as Imaan started to embrace his passion for music he was diagnosed with glaucoma, an eye infection that can lead to blindness if not treated early with therapeutic measures. By the age of 15 it was decided that Imaan had to have surgery. This kept him in the hospital for two months but his mind stayed nimble with his focus on word play and flow for his musical thoughts.

With a part time job delivering for his fathers restaurant Imaan had a delivery that led him to "Loud Records/Violators". He met Simone an A&R who encouraged him to drop off his press kit when he was ready; another A&R got a taste of Imaans energy and enthusiasm when he was stopped in the record company's local parking lot for a 3 minute showcase.

The same fortune happened when Imaan literally bumped into the AMG for Violator James Cruz. However, on a Friday night in New York 10 minutes is 9.5 minutes too long and so Mr. Cruz gave Imaan his business card and gave the infamous New York line "stop by the office next week". Imaan keeps in touch with him from time to time.

In '99 - '00, Imaans mother had a near fatal accident that took place in the restaurant they owned. The incident combined with his high medical bills left the family no choice but to return to Canada to which medical care wasmore feasible for now two ailing members.

The minute Imaan stepped foot back into Toronto he immediately followed the positive energy he had received from New York by writing more creatively and focused on what he wanted to convey from his life surroundings. Once again his brother Ali saw how serious he was in having music his choice of career and in so Ali sold his then pride and joy car to see his brothers dream come to fruition.

With a manger of such devotion Imaan has been able to work with various producers and studios from Pamma Sarai (Produced work with Ruff Riders), Ed Rasso (Producer/Engineer for Bad Boy & So So Def), and Christian Deane (engineer on projects with such artists as Method Man, Jen, & Canadian Idle contestants). Toronto studios have not been excluded from this line of stellar production. Sound Proof Recordings, Number 9 Audio Group, and100proof recording studios are among the many that have shown support in this project. Well-known photographer of the stars Steven Carty highlighted the project by supplying his creativity for all cover shots provided for the album.

Imaan is currently recording his first 2 singles to be released Fall 2003. His full-length album will be completed by the start of 2006.
