Longtime friends J.R. Newsome and Shawn Vinson knew early on they were destined to share their eloquent voices with the world. The Tulsa, Oklahoma natives headed away to college together to Terrell, Texas, where they were able to groom their vocals as part of an a cappella chorus. The guys decided to move to Oklahoma City to finish up their college days, but never stopped pursuing their musical dreams. Music swiftly became a priority for J.R. and Shawn, so they moved back to Texas where they knew there were more opportunities to achieve their musical goals. It was this move to Texas that made the Image Boyz complete as it was here that J.R. and Shawn hooked up with charismatic 1st tenor, Sean Babcock (aka JReal), and soulful crooner Devante Reed (aka D'Smoove). The guys likened the encounter to meeting lost brothers; they felt the missing links to Image Boyz were now in place and it was the right time for the group to make it on to the R&B map.

Now with Shawn being a smooth tenor/baritone, JReal a soulful 1st tenor, DSmoove an energetic alto and J.R. a raspy 2nd tenor, the group owns a sound that sets them apart from today’s R&B groups. They’ve pledged to take a different approach to the R&B game by refraining from following the mainstream sounds that include strong, sexually explicit lyrics; the Image Boyz have seized the opportunity to write and perform soulful harmonies that contain clean lyrics and encourage abstinence. Their sound has been compared to a cross between Jagged Edge and 112.

With the ultimate goal to be successful in the R&B world, the Image Boyz have committed themselves o the motto, "perform anywhere, anytime" and that is exactly what they have been doing throughout Oklahoma, Texas, and the South. They have had the opportunity to open for other R&B artists, including H-town, Jon B, and Changing Faces. The Image Boyz continue to craft their abilities by working vigorously at writing and performing skills which has earned them several awards on the local scene including "Best R&B Group" by the Oklahoma Gazette.
