LISA BUTLER
Born on the NSW Central Coast into a musical family, Lisa wrote poetry and learned piano from an early age. She started writing songs (words and music) at age 16. Singing lessons followed during the teenage years with a view to a singing career but writing songs, and in particular lyrics, became her passion.

Largely self-taught, Lisa writes well-constructed, thought-provoking lyrics that demonstrate a deep understanding of human nature whilst maintaining commercial appeal. Experimenting with different styles and challenging the status quo are a favorite pastime resulting in interesting, meaning-filled, stories-in-song.

Working in public relations and promotions in the hospitality and entertainment industries as well as general reception and office work gave Lisa the opportunity to gain knowledge in networking, communication and business procedures which now stands her in good stead, as she manages the administration, advertising and public relations for Imaginotion Songs®.

Lisa worked part time (1994-97) as Personal/Production Assistant for international cabaret star, Jenifer Green. This provided invaluable experience and awarded her the opportunity to make excellent contacts within the industry as well as gain further understanding of the 'ins and outs' of the music business.

In November 1999, Lisa established Imaginotion Songs® with songwriting partner, Chris Headford and as well as running the business she also makes time in her busy schedule to successfully run the Imaginotion Songs® Music Industry Networking Group at www.imaginotionsongs.net, which has a membership of over 200 songwriters, singers, musicians, producers, artist managers and other music industry executives.

In late 2005, Lisa began collaborating with a number of talented songwriters, which prompted the expansion of Imaginotion Songs’ agenda. Now, with a growing roster of songwriters working with her, she has found a new vigour and passion to write, and in 2006, she will once again be working toward placing songs within the music, film and advertising industries. Lisa also provides voice-overs for promotions and advertising, and her knowledge and understanding of the songwriting process is often sought by other songwriters requesting professional critiquing of their work.

The most gratifying surprise has been in January 2006 when Lisa discovered she is developing a core audience of online fans for her vocal performances heard though the popular “Open Mic Podcast” at www.openmic.hitart.com .

Lisa is a member of the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) and the Australian Copyright Council.

CHRIS HEADFORD
Born in Melbourne, Victoria, Chris moved to Ballarat, Victoria at the age of ten where he commenced bass guitar tuition at age 13 with Peter Cupples, (Peter Cupples Band, Stylus, Midday Show regular).

Moving to Townsville at age 15 he started playing with local bands. Chris played his first 'pub' gig when he was just 16 years old and continued playing in bands, moving to Brisbane a year later for a more serious try at the music industry.

In 1988 he did session work for Hughes Leisure Group (Music Division), playing bass guitar on two albums.

Chris switched from bass to keyboards in 1989 in an attempt to get more band work.

Early in 1992 he joined popular Brisbane band 'Holloworld'. After just three gigs with the band, Holloworld entered the Queensland Rock Awards and became grand finalists. Late 1992 'Holloworld' release their indie CD, 'Unharnesss'.

In 1994 after playing in a few duos Chris started to become serious about song writing and arranging. In 1997 he moved to Tweed Heads, on the far North Coast of NSW to study classical and jazz piano.

Chris answered an advertisement for a songwriting partner in early 1999. By mid 1999 several demos had been recorded.

In November 1999, Chris established Imaginotion Songs® with songwriting partner, Lisa Butler. He also designed and maintains the Imaginotion Songs website through his web design and hosting business, Bebel.

Chris is a member of the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA).
