Luke Coulson, Boy North, and Jodie Knight come together on "You" to create a memorable electronic track. "You" combines a unique downtempo electronic beat with gorgeous vocals. Rather than write my own personal review of this song, I think the story of how this track came to be way more interesting


"Me and BoyNorth have been wanting to produce together for a while but he lives in Edinburgh, he called me and told me about this vocalist he heard busking in the streets of Edinburgh, said she has a beautiful voice and would be perfect with the ideas we had in mind. I usually don't like commercial music, especially electronic music because it's became so bland and generic - I like music that has raw emotion and doesn't follow trends so it's usually very hard for me to be moved.


BoyNorth recorded Jodie busking on his phone and sent it over - I found her voice literally perfect for the track, I love effortless articulation, when words are pronounced and sung in a way that entices you after the first word - I knew we were onto something.


Jodie came up with some lyrics with the hook "Coming back to you" being something that just felt like home, the 3 of us collaborated to change some lyrics to have more elusiveness and ambiguity to fit with the emotional synths. I rearranged the synths so that the bass-line fell on the end of that hook, and honestly after that, the track pretty much wrote itself.


Was such a fun project with 2 incredible musicians, and shows the power of modern technology now to collaborate completely online.
