I was in attendance at the Whisky on Wednesday night , July 25th, and I witnessed a rare thing.
About 11 o’clock a band came onstage, by the name of Immigrant Gypsy, and played a set of rock’n’roll
with no gimmicks, snot-nose attitude, gratuitous posing, or coy hairstyles. The Sunset Strip audience
which of course prefers to stand stock-still with arms folded during any live performance, was actually
moving around a bit and functioning like normal human beings. The lead singer sounded like equal parts
Joe Cocker and Eddie Vedder, and when he sings it he means it. The lead guitar shreds without remorse
and the rhythm section is rock solid. What more do you need ? That’s rock’n’roll.

Immigrant Gypsy, formed by Ash (England) Tate (Spain) Ryan (Canada) Garrett (USA) and a bass player is a band that mixes and explores that thin line in between heart pounding rock with the most classic forms of blues, and a little bit of high voltage Hollywood grit.
With strong originals and a collection of covers ranging from classic blues to heavy metal with all the equipment and versatility to play local bars at 30 minute sets to 2 hour festival sets. Immigrant Gypsy are ready to tackle Southern California, the United States, and the World.
