"Inaia Remains True To Self On 'Duality' Album"

Every so often a voice gets under your skin. You can’t help but feel every hesitation, every quiver, and every shiver. Drawing from a repertoire steeped in jazz, blues, and pop, Miami Beach-based artist Inaia serves up Duality, a classy, expressive album with selections in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Duality is full of gems, both old and new. The seductive Ogden Neil/Kurt Weill-penned “Speak Low” (from One Touch of Venus) is sure to cast an appropriately romantic glow. A lovely rendition of the Spanish-language classic “Contigo En La Distancia” demonstrates Inaia’s vocal range. In addition to other revamped standards like “Fever” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” (complete with a danceable beat), Duality also features five original tunes. The sensuous “I Love You Anyway” forgives past transgressions (affirmatively declaring that “In my heart I know that we will come together/A love like this must live again”) while “Running” gently chastises the fast-paced lifestyle of a friend who wonders why love continues to elude him.

The album’s biggest highlight may very well be the reflective “True” in which Inaia finds herself “revealing a soul that’s always been stronger” and urging the listener to seek his own freedom. The song affirms that strength comes from within without delving into clichés or preaching. By mixing beloved classics with fresh originals, Duality conveys a sense of timelessness, making it an album that can be savored today and every day after. - Music Freedom

Bio

Inaia is a passionate, multi-lingual and versatile performer. Her shining presence speaks of beauty and coming into her power as she courageously shares her voice and her soul with the world.

A native of Puerto Rico, her early travels to Europe and mainland USA with her family sharpened her sense for music, language and culture. Shaped by her years of international travel, she became fluent in English, Spanish and Italian and learned to speak some Portuguese, French and Japanese, as well. She most certainly does not fit into the mold of your typical Latina. Unlike most Latins, she lives a vegan lifestyle, practices Capoeira and Bikram Yoga. Additionally, she is very passionate about her spirituality and relies on holistic practices to keep her well and centered. All of these unconventional influences shine through in her radiant personality. This is especially evident in her music.

Inaia began singing in the children's choir of her church when she was only 8 years old. Upon graduating high school in P.R., Inaia's desire to chase her dream, lead her to Goucher College in Baltimore, MD, U.S.A. where she studied music, dance, and theater. After 2 years of honing her craft she was offered her first professional opportunity as a singer on the ship 'Scandinavian Song'. This prepared her for later gigs in musical revue style shows for the Condado Beach and Conquistador hotels back in Puerto Rico as well as the Fountainbleau Hilton in Miami. Eventually, Inaia landed a role in the Bellas Artes production of the musical "Cabaret", working along side the Grammy nominated composer Jose Negroni. In this production she traveled to the Dominican Republic where she performed at the world renowned "National Theater."

Inaia is a true "triple threat" performer-singer, dancer and actor. Throughout her career, she has been featured in numerous television commercials, magazine print ads, as a featured dancer in Thalia's music video, "Regresa A Mi", and in the telenovela "Al Son Del Amor," starring Luis Enrique. She was also featured several times as "El Poder De La Semana" on the show "No Te Duermas" for Telemundo. Recently, she was a featured "New Artist" at the 2006 Latin Billboard Awards.

As a singer she has traveled the world over sharing her unique style with the masses. She has performed throughout the United States including many South Beach, FL venues as well as New York, Las Vegas, and Atlanta. Internationally, her career has brought her to perform in many exotic countries including the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Japan, Korea, Italy and Morocco. Currently, Inaia shares her time performing in South Florida, U.S.A., Seoul, Korea and Tokyo, Japan.

While on tour in Japan last winter, she spent most of her time at her iBook composing lyrics and music, which eventually resulted in her newly released CD, "Duality." "Duality" was masterfully produced by Orly Penate. Penate, a veteran of the music industry himself, has worked with such greats as Natalie Cole, James Ingram, Harold Melvin and Blue Note's Bertie Higgins. He has recently shared the stage with such extraordinary artists as Kirk Waylem, Russ Freidman, and the incomparable B.B. King. The collaboration of Inaia and Penate is what makes "Duality" a unique concoction of fresh, seductive Jazz and World Jazz with a chill, sexy vibe. It also includes 5 original tracks that complete this eclectic blend of musical styles. "Duality" is full of gems, both old and new", writes Wrinksis, a reviewer for MusicFreedom.com. "The album's biggest highlight may very well be the reflective song True in which Inaia finds herself revealing a soul that's always been stronger and urges the listener to seek his or her own freedom." Her sound is hip, sexy, modern and fresh. Inaia's emotion-filled vocals will surely uplift and bring a smile to your soul.
