"Time for the big time"

They have supported some of Australia's hottest acts, but Blacktown born band Inakin is setting out to find their own niche in the cut-throat music industry.
And so far; so good.
Inakin, a four piece outfit that includes three Blacktown lads, is looking to the United States where they will link up with entertainment guru Bill Black.
Their resume is impressive, having cut their teeth on the same stage as Diesel, The Screaming Jets, Mental As Anything, The Choir Boys and ZINC.
Their sound is convincing an tight, adding a touch of their own classy uniqueness to the common thread of Australian rock.
Former Blacktown Boys High student Josh Barker fronts the band as lead singer and guitarist.
Shane Edwards, affectionately known as Buddha, is the lead guitarist while Aaron Carruthers completes the ensemble with the rhythm section on drums.
Among the growing list of quality bands they have supported on stage, Inakin have appeared on reality TV show The Resort and were on RA TV on cable with champion surfer Barton Lynch.
Inakin have worked with Phil Mackellar, producer of Silvershair and Powderfinger and have had artist development with Paul Reed. All songs are original, primarily written by Josh Barker.

Inakin take out Global batte of bands; Brisbanes Reveler takes second! | Music News

Reveler are a three-piece Melodic Rock Band from Brisbane and although the band have been together since 1999, 2005 has shaped up to be their biggest yet and likely to leave the year with a bang.

Reveler was the only Brisbane band to make the top 9 in Australia for the National Final of the Global Battle of the Bands competition on November 10 in Sydney.

Reveler came second just behind Sydney band 'Inakin' who now head to London for the World Final.

Never-the-less, Reveler still walked away with three days of recording at Scope Studio's working with music producer, Mathew Laurence on New South Wales Central Coast.

"We are at where we are now because we love what we do, we have never slowed down or stopped... playing LIVE, recording, writing, practicing the whole thing," says the band.

Other contenders, The Fits scored third position whilst Tasmanian band 'Waiter' took out fourth spot.

Australian winners, 'Inakin' will now head to London to take part in the World Championships where they face the possibility of walking away with a fully paid world tour and $100,000.00. - accessallareas.net.au

"It's the next big thing"

09 September 2008

As one of Sydney’s hottest up-and-coming bands Inakin has been busy building a solid fan base for the last four years.

The rock quartet are currently preparing for their debut album release later this year and are touring the east coast of Australia.

On Friday, September 19 they will be one of five bands playing at Rooty Hill RSL as part of Sydney’s Next Big Thing show.

Lead vocalist/guitarist Josh Barker says it’s an exciting time for the band.

“We went on a songwriting trip on the South Coast and recorded at home in the studio. We’re really excited how it (the album) came out and we’re planning to release it in October,” he says.

“We (also) went to London for a few weeks and got interest (from) U2 producer Steve Lillywhite. He’s quite excited to get on board.”

Barker says the band is getting positive feedback after every show and their fan base is growing rapidly.

“The day after a gig we get on MySpace and we’ve had 50 or 60 hits,” he says.

Being from the Blacktown area Barker says he’s looking forward to playing at Rooty Hill RSL a venue the boys have played at before.

He says he’s excited to bring Inakin’s “edgy rock sound” to the area again.

“Our songs are about relationships, everyday working class people and their everyday struggles,” he says.

“They’re something everyone can relate to.”

The event also attracted you beaut celebs including pro surfers Zane Holmes and Matt Hoy and hosts of the gala dinner, Steve Jacobs and Jo-Beth Taylor. Young Divas and hot new comers, Inakin also put on a spectacular show at Moffat beach.
