Having done their own managing and putting their own input into production, inbedlam are bursting at the seams with anticipation of an LP release.
And what an LP that will be. Listening to their EP (a selection of songs can be downloaded in mp3 format from their website www.inbedlam.com or their MySpace page), you are transported into their world. My Way holds all the ingredients for a catchy single release, while Cupid’s Arrow sees Daniel punch out an attitude-filled riff, reminiscent of early Muse, before settling back to fewer, well-placed notes allowing the bass to drive the beat along. These songs, along with other humble EP releases gives inbedlam a rich foundation on which to build their impending catalogue.
But it’s also what’s they haven’t written yet that makes you salivate with musical hunger. Embryonic riffs hold promise to mature into crowd-pleasing favourites. A rehearsal was rescheduled a few weeks after the original meeting and I got more than I hoped for. Getting an hour set in a private show is exciting in itself, but to have a guitar thrust into your hands and have Daniel and Dave follow your lead while Sid sang whatever was flowing through his mind was awe-inspiring. After I put the acoustic down, Dave let rip with a crunchy bass riff and it wasn’t long till I was privy to the birth of a new song. Sid, overcome with inspiration, sang the remainder of the song off the tip of his tongue while Dave and Daniel nodded along in approval.
The eerie vocals of Heartbeat floated amongst the dust. Legion made me sit up and listen, Dave’s bass sliding with the groove of Andy’s drums. But not all was fine porcelain as riffs were hurled against the wall and impacted with my chest. Sid beat down on his acoustic guitar towards the end of Delete the File making me wince with the abuse. The last notes rang out as Sid sat down to catch his breath. Emotion, devotion and passion.

‘It’s thought-out chaos’. Dave’s description of inbedlam is agreed upon by the other members. Although they talk amongst, over and in-between each other, there are common threads that bind the discussion together. Their minds meet through the music and sound out together like the beer glasses they toast outside of rehearsal.
Having supported bands such as Thirsty Merc, Evermore and Jimmy Barnes, they now have a taste of playing to large audiences. They don’t mind playing smaller gigs, but inbedlam are looking forward. But it’s still a tough road ahead. ‘We’re not living a dream,’ Sid explains. ‘We know the product we’ve got, we love doing it.’
inbedlam’s product is a finely detailed, handcrafted masterpiece. In a world where music is created on an assembly line and pumped out for the masses, inbedlam put thought, pride, and love into their creation. Inbedlam are a new 4 piece Sydney band and their debut recording is an emotional piece of work. The tunes are carried by vocalist Sidney’s passionate delivery, the band creating sonically painted backdrops for his soaring style that is certainly reminiscent of Jeff Buckley. This is particularly noticeable on the opening track In the Garden. Guitars and drums build as the bands drives the song into a fervid climax. Satellite’s On The Roam would certainly be my favorite track on this offering. The acoustic guitar backing leaves plenty of space for Sid to weave his vocal web as a sounding organ line slowly builds into a more effected keyboard/drum groove. The use of keyboards opens up the bands sound and this track really showcases how clever these guys can be. I don’t know, it may just be my opinion, but I feel that they really found their own sound on this track. Delete the Phile (lyrically denouncing pedophiles, so the bio tells me) is a menacing and disturbing song Mummy, there’s a man outside window looks like a scarecrow. Musically moving into Tea Party territory, the guitars are heavy and Eastern sounding. This theme continues on Legion which opens up with Sid sounding though he’s spouting an Eastern sounding prayer over Dave’s sliding bass line. Emotionally intense, dynamically shifting and containing more of the previously mentioned sense of menace. I’m guessing that lyrically the band are covering themes that they feel strongly about and it shows in the emotional arrangements of the tunes as they swing from fragile and delicate to dark, aggressive and atmospheric. The final tune Therapy’s a must/They hit us again certainly shifts through shades of musical schizophrenia. All in all a fine debut release and I’m looking forward to hearing the next chapter in Inbedlam’s musical discovery “ I have a feeling that this is just the beginning. - Musicworkz

Hello there boys!! I was so happy that you all asked me to critic you!!
It turned out to really be my pleasure. Let me tell you what I thought!!

"My way" is first of all, very well recorded. It is one of the most unique songs ive heard in a long time. The vocals are chilling.

"Turn me on" was extremely catchy it would make a really great single. It is very easy to relate and connect with. The Background was really well recorded as well. It sounded like Franz Ferdinand with flavor. I felt so vulnerable when I heard this song, that’s a wonderful feeling when a song can literally change your mood.

"Cupids arrow" was totally different to the other songs. The vocals again were powerful and incredibly versatile. The song has a really different and interesting approach; it is up to you as a band to decide whether to change the genre on some of your songs on the album. I took more of a liking to the other songs but this one was still well done.

"Time thrill" was an absolutely beautiful beautiful song. It was extremely memorable and well written. I appreciated the talent in this song so much. The song totally gave me shivers.

I honestly loved you guys. You sound so unique and you are definitely in my top three bands on my space. When you listen to good music it makes an impression in your memory. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful music with me. I critiqued as harshly as I could and I honestly couldn’t find much to attack you about!!

The BRAG, issue 88, December 20 - 2004. Page 14; Inbedlam have achieved a rather pleasurable and a particularly descriptive review. Rated number 3, underneath the heading "Sydney Unsigned Acts"(top 10) by Vina V, states:

"Inbedlam: Prepare yourself to be thrusted straight into a headlong affair with the nether regions of your mind. Lyrically evocative, reverberating vocals mesh alongside searing guitars in an edgy intensity somewhat reminiscent of Buckley-esque croonings. Inbedlam send your soul reeling, exposed and slightly unhinged. The forlorn (I luv that word — d) become the forsaken. When frontman Sidney gets in the 'zone,' he's like Peter Pan on mescaline. Believe me, you'd wish you were Wendy so you could fly high right alongside him........"
