Bio

Incksalonius (nee Cindy Leacock) is hip hop. Her debut studio LP, “Press Play” bears witness to this fact. A multi-talented MC/Producer/Filmmaker/Writer, Incks rises above the common to strive for the exceptional. Hailing from Flatbush, the heart of Brooklyn, Incks has been working towards the release of “Press Play” for nearly 4 years. A series of deeply personal songs, “Press Play” tells the story of recovery, growth, and self-love.

After a near fatal asthma attack in 2001, Incks fought for nearly two years for a full recovery. During those years, she refocused and redoubled her efforts to achieving success in the entertainment industry. She graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts and established Voltron Studios in Brooklyn with long-time friends. Virtually all of “Press Play” was recorded at Voltron.

From her struggle to full recovery, the seeds of “Press Play” were born. “Joy” the first song penned on the album is an emotional and raw reflection of Incks’ road to self love and the ending of negative relationships. Always concerned with watering the roots of music, songs like “Memrys” and “Rap Music” were made reminiscent of good grooves that made you feel good whenever you heard it on the radio.

Never satisfied with following others, Incks blazes trails and continues to leave her indelible mark on hip hop. In 2004, she became the first woman to win a BanginBeats.com beat battle. She has performed on both sides of the Atlantic including the Wetlands (NYC), Nuyorican Poets Café (NYC), Baggot Inn (NYC), The Five Spot (Brooklyn and Philadelphia), Theater Romein (Leeuwarden,NL) Bitterzoet and Paradiso (A’Dam, Netherlands).

On the Brooklyn scene for years, Incks has always been a student of the industry. Having learned that freedom comes from ownership, she founded Earmax Records in 1999 with producing-partner DJ Obah. Her first EP, “Push”, released independently in 2000, gained substantial exposure both in the US and abroad. Buoyed by the support she received, Incks was even more convinced that real music still touches the soul.

The debut single from “Press Play”, “Rap Music”, has been generating buzz on both sides of the Atlantic. She was invited and recently performed several dates in Belgium and the Netherlands with The Proov, a Dutch hip hop trio, after one member of the group heard “Rap Music”.

Earning a reputation for delivering fire, Incks has been invited to bless other artists’ projects. She is a featured performer on Shu’s “Shusic” (2005), The Proov’s “Battle Mode” (2005), Krewcial’s “25/8” (BBE, 2003), and B-Gyrl.com’s compilation CD “B-Gyrl4Life”.

Next up for this rising star is a promotional tour focused on college in support of the first single “Rap Music”. Incks is also finishing up the release of her video for the next single, “Memrys”.

Constantly building on her foundation, Incks’ star is still rising.
