"Student"

"After leaving, I felt rejuvenated and my mind felt so open. I really enjoyed the performance and felt moved enough to call my mom right after and tell her about it." - Elmhurst College

"Helga Noice, Ph.D."

"It is rare that an educational venue can find such a perfect vehicle, one that takes the audience on a dramatic ride that is breathtakingly entertaining and, at the same time, results in the audience thinking deeply about issues of identity, diversity, and what it means to be human." - Department of Psychology at Elmhurst College

"Amanda Henry"

"The Penn State Harrisburg staff and students all very much enjoyed your performance. It shows through your performance that you truly love what you do." - Campus Life & Intercultural Affairs at Penn State Harrisburg

"Diann Newman, Ed.D."

"You were definitely the highlight of our program and the students and staff in attendance all had extremely positive reactions to your presentation." - Chairperson of Diversity Day Committee at Florida International University

"Jake Cohen"

"At the risk of sounding false, I will say that "Incognito" changed me. The show taught all of us in the audience, but it did so incognito, under the guise of fascinating theatre. Beneath Fosberg"s captivatingly twisted journey lies a simple explanation of how families work, and sometimes, don"t. The presentation is direct, yet entertaining, the performance is human yet out of this world. Nevertheless, the inspiring energy of the piece never clouds over the simple truths at its core. And that, to say the least, is refreshing."

—Jake Cohen, student, Northwestern University - Student at Northwestern University

"Elizabeth Bradley"

"Dear Michael:
I'm glad you had the opportunity to share your piece and your story with the School. I was pleased to support the students in their efforts to bring us
something that would provoke ongoing discussion about issues that continue
to profoundly affect American society.
I'm glad that it has resonated so strongly across so many communities and I'm sure the book will only add to the momentum."
- Head of Drama School at Carnegie Mellon University

Bio

Michael grew up just north of Chicago in Waukegan, Illinois where he first stepped on stage during high school. During the summer of 1974 he attended the National High School Institute's Theater Arts Program on the campus of Northwestern University, or "Cherub's" as is affectionately referred to. He then went on to study acting, directing, and writing at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, graduating with a BFA. It was while still attending school he founded the Small Change Original Theater; producing, writing, directing, and conducting workshops for kids of all ages throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, North & South Dakota.

Upon returning to the Chicagoland area in the early 80s he appeared in shows at Steppenwolf, Remains, Wisdom Bridge, and the Goodman Theatres - working with such directors as John Malkovich, Gary Sinse, and Robert Falls - as well as co-founding the Huron Theater Ensemble.

A move to Los Angeles in the late 80s had him appearing in television and film, while continuing his work with young students as the Director of Education for the Living Library Theatre, a stage combat instructor at the Buckley School, and a teacher / director for the South Coast Repertorys Young Actors Conservatory program. He also worked as a guest artist at the Sundance Institutes summer residency program, teaching educators how to utilize drama in the classrooms.
