Independent George is the singer/songwriter project of multi-instrumentalist Angus Brady. Drawing from the musical influences he grew up on like the Beatles, Queen, and Bryan Adams, the core of the Independent George sound is its warm melodies, rich harmonies and driving beats. As a seasoned drummer and guitar player he writes from a solid foundation of rhythm that is so evident on his debut album Wake Up.

Produced by John Shepp (Matthew Good Band, GOB, Bocephus King), Wake Up features the warm guitars and dynamic vocals that are a staple of Brady’s sound. Canada's legendary RUSH producer Terry Brown added his flair when he mixed the album, while Peter J Moore (Tragically Hip, Sloan, Cowboy Junkies) topped off the mastering.

“When I first approached John, the main thing on my mind was to create a powerful pop rock album that was interesting and unique from one song to the next,” explains Brady. “We had an Indie budget and were lucky to have a producer who was passionate enough about our music to spend the time to get the results we wanted, in spite of the budget.”

“The music is organic in the sense that each track was played throughout the song without it having to be digitally edited or corrected,” says Brady about the recording process. “There are a lot of guitars on this album, some would say this is a guitar album, and we including specialty guitars like the Baritone (featured on ‘Can’t Hide It’) , the 7 string electric and 12 string acoustic that I think has added an interesting feel and depth to our music.”
