Indigo Soul

Indigo Soul

BandRockAdult Contemporary

Big acoustic rock with a side-order of funkin' new country. You'll quit the idle chit chat when we hit with soulful vocals & unhitched guitar riffs. Catchy melodic songs, marrying Stevie Wonder/Dave Matthews/Keith Urban and a hint of Alison Kraus.

Biography

The members of Indigo Soul are Candice Meidell, Eli Lemieux, Aaron Hughes, Mehrab Moghadasian and Shahrouz Moulaei. Created by Candice and Eli to showcase their ever growing compilation of original songs, they teamed up with fellow singer/songwriter Aaron Hughes, bassist Mehrab Moghadasian and drummer Shahrouz Moulaei to complete the original sound that is Indigo Soul. Marrying their mixed influences of acoustic rock, R&B, funk and jazz, the band’s music transcends the traditional boundaries of these genres.

CANDICE - knows how to command an audience with her exceptional talent. Her accuracy and range, combined with a killer instinct for wrenching emotion from a song, make for a voice that leaves you wanting more. Oh, and did we mention she is a lyrical genius? Candice previously lent her vocal talent as back-up singer for David Deacon and the Word, and is also currently involved in a jazz trio project.

ELI - is a multi-faceted composer who can play a number of instruments aside from his main love, the guitar. He and Candice met 5 years ago, and quickly bonded as musical soul mates, Eli putting the music to her spontaneous, intuitive lyrics. Having played in a number of musical projects, Eli is an expert at finding ‘the right sound’, and puts a unique stamp on the songs with his top-notch guitar work.

AARON - throws his voice and his acoustic guitar work into the mix, tempering the music with a warmth. He and Eli spent several years writing original music together, drawing from their mutual adoration of players such as Michael Hedges and Dave Matthews, and their penchant for creating textures within the music is always being refined. Aaron produced, released, and distributed an independent EP of original songs in 1999, and co-writes some material for Indigo Soul with Candice and Eli.

MEHRAB - simply a great bass player. Mehrab's style is a reflection of his middle eastern roots and profound love for jazz, world and fusion music. He came to know Indigo Soul having worked with Candice Meidell over the years in an avanguard jazz trio. Now an irreplaceble member of IS, his creative intelligence and love for the bass is unsurpassed, and his rock'in bass chops ever more awe inspiring. He adds just the right touch of musical genuis to Indigo Soul's music.

SHAHROUZ - has played with some of Iran's most prominent bands including his own band "raz-e-shab" in 2001. Moved to toronto in Sept 2004 and began his search for "the best style that comes from my heart". Met Indigo Soul in 2005 and announced his musical prescence with a furiously funky and brilliant drum style, adding that perfect "attitude" to Indigo Soul.

Lyrics

I Would Never Leave You

Written By: Candice Meidell

I WOULD NEVER LEAVE YOU

(Guitar Intro)
(Verse)

Hometown bound
Lost and found
I can’t wait to see your face

The way I feel
Will never heal
‘Til I stop running away

(Chorus)

If I could I would fly away
If I could I’d be there to stay
If I knew I would find a way
I’d never leave you, no I’d never leave you

(Verse)

Don’t take long
To know you don’t belong
Two thousand miles away

I ask myself
Just why the hell
I thought I couldn’t stay

(Chorus)

If I could I would fly away
If I could I’d be there to stay
If I knew I would find a way
I’d never leave you, no I’d never leave you

(Bridge)

Somehow I lost my way
Something made me stray
But there’s nothing I wouldn’t do
To be in your arms again

(Chorus x2) (END)

Staring Me Down

Written By: Candice Meidell

Verse 1

Another lesson learned I guess, And so I passed another test
And here’s a pretty ribbon for my wall…
Did I mention solitude
Well it never comes when you’re in the mood
So I’ll list out my reasons for my fall…

Chorus

It’s just me, staring at me, staring at me, staring at me, staring me down.

Verse 2

I would tear you limb from limb
I wouldn’t know where to begin
To give you back this shit you gave to me
I make excuses for your fucked up head
And I tell myself it was me instead
Well, you stabbed me but there is nothing left here to bleed..

Chorus2

It’s just me, staring at me, staring at me, staring at me, staring me down.

Bridge

Hold on tight, here we go, down again.
And it’s too late tonight, and I don’t want to fight, so I lay down
I lay down……

Chorus3

It’s just me, staring at me, staring at me, staring at me, staring me down.
It’s just me, staring at me, staring at me, staring at me, staring me down.

Staring me Down, Staring me Down, Staring me Down down down
Staring me Down
