"BAKING SODA ARTIST SPOTLIGHT"

Could you take a moment and let the people know who you are and what’s dope about you?

I go by Infinite aka Fluid and I’m a hiphop artist from NC. I’m a very relatable yet lyrical emcee that has overcame a lot to deliver these words on instrumentals. I’m dope because possess the right ingredients.

How long have you been inspired to do music?

I had to be around 4 years old, in the house with my older brother playing old school hiphop. Once I heard it I was hooked.

When was the moment you realized that this was more than just a hobby to you, and more about purpose?

I was on a college campus (NC A&T University) walking through looking for chicks with my friends and somehow a cipher formed and dudes from different states were rhyming, so we joined in. When I started rapping the crowd grew massively and they kept wanting me to go again. That’s when I knew it was something to this. That was a crazy night.

What artists did you grow up listening to?

Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Biggie, Redman, Ice Cube, Snoop, Mobb Deep, and Jay-Z

Does their music influence your sound?

Most definitely. I feel like all of those elements combined makes a strong artist, and that artist is myself. Facts.

What was the motivation behind your recent project?

The project is called “Ready 2 Try” and it drops 12-18-22. My motivation was to just deliver a classic release with all the elements of traditional hiphop masterpieces I grew up on. I needed to tell a story, have sharp metaphors and wordplay along with good concepts for the songs. I feel like I did my part with that.

Where can the people find you on social media?

"Conversations with Shirrell Jordan of Baking Soda TV"

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shirrell Jordan.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?

Growing up, I never really had a lot, but I always possessed everything I needed. God blessed me with more than one gift, allowing me to learn and improvise in moments of misfortune and discover value in some things that others couldn’t always recognize at first glance. I began drawing very well in school, which developed into writing songs from just seeing life from a vivid perspective. I dedicated myself to the craft of making music until this day. Along the way, I took the initiative to try and become further educated in the business aspect of things. I discovered a deeper understanding of what is required to succeed rather than just be discovered as talent alone. This new education introduced me to a lot of paperwork and marketing strategies necessary to thrive. I then began to build my brand. That improvising from the beginning set in, and I used my artistic gift to design my merchandise for (www.highlysocialclothing.com) and partner with my brother Brian Jordan and friend/ mentor Rico Smith at Multi Mogul Media to develop the vision I had for Baking Soda TV. I’m very grateful for their belief in my abilities and potential on the media and music side of the business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

The biggest struggles came from lacking the finances and having to take a tougher route on this journey. Lack of support in the capacity of my mindset as a younger me. Over time I developed tunnel vision, but at a point in life, those things were detrimental to my confidence until I gained a deeper understanding of purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Baking Soda TV is a media source developed from the point of view of an artist from the other side of the camera. As an entertainer, I know how much opportunity, publicity, notoriety, and having a platform to express yourself on is vital to one’s fan base being existent or nonexistent. So created the show to provide a new entity for exposure to entertainers, small business owners, models, community leaders, etc. We want to put a positive spin on the word “dope” and find out what makes you so interesting. We also provide services such as videography, event bookings, vlogs, music video, commercial ads, video editing, event space rental, and other things.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.

I feel like taking risks is the only way to succeed. It’s basically like stepping out on faith. I took a risk by betting on myself when others wouldn’t, and that’s what type of mental state you need to have.
