“Mr. Windy City” is back from a short hiatus, and ready to conquer the music scene….one city at a time!!!! Influence, the only rap artist on the Ruckerboyz record label, has emerged on the Chicago music scene silently but aggressively. Doing over 20 shows within his first month of rapping, he has entertained crowds of all ages and ethnicities, leaving them asking where they can find more of his music. Influence has been featured in several blogs and interviewed on a variety of radio stations and TV stations. With a heavy street credibility and catchy metaphors, Influence definitely stands out amongst is counterparts.
The release of his new single “Koolin” has made his fans more anxious for the re-release of his mix tape titled "Rookie of the Year" which can be downloaded on itunes and datpiff.com. At a very young age, Antonio Buford, an emerging rap artist from the West Side of Chicago began learning the proverbial ropes of rap and hip hop. Growing up without his father, being raised by his grandmother and being exposed to gang violence in his neighborhood made him realize that he needed to develop a plan to make a better life for him and his family. Gaining inspiration from the ciphers and rap battles taking place in his neighborhood , he decided to make rapping his career path instead of just a hobby. Learning the importance of artistic expression early, he spent his teen years harnessing that expression through his passion for music. In a short period of time, he went from Rapping with his friends in the LeClaire Courts to performing for crowds of large masses and quickly developed a fan base. Influence is one of the most diverse undeniable forces of the Chicago music scene, setting him apart from many other up and coming artists.
Influence has performed at several shows across the United States including performing on Gucci Mane, Gorilla Zoe, Lil Webbie, and OJ Da Juiceman. He has gained attention from fans because of his incredible stage presence, unique delivery, and eagerness for crowd participation. Along with being an important factor in the Chicago hip hop scene, he also volunteers in his neighborhood with different community service and mentoring projects. He is very adamant about building, uplifting, and shaping his community to be a safe haven for everyone.
Influence has been compared to several mainstream music artists because of his complex metaphors and his ability to tell a story through his raps. When asked what sets him apart from other artist, he responds by saying I make feel good music to relax the mind, take someone away from the negativity, give them dance music, and a open mind to life and what it has to offer through hard work.
His goal as an artist is not only to sell records but to be the voice of his hood and any other people he makes interactions with on his road to success. He lives by the motto Sleep when you Die, Nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream. He is definitely making a huge impact in the Windy City. Put your ear to the streets
