Bio

Some time last winter (maybe Novemberish 2008), James Hash had a show scheduled with his jazz band, The Rushin' Blues, that fell through for whatever reason. Not wanting to lose the time slot, James quickly gathered a crack team of musicians consisting of saxophonist Miles Gallagher, Rise of Tides drummer DJ Alenskis, and Rushin' Blues keyboardist Matt Carey (with James covering bass) to try and salvage the show.

(We might add here that DJ and Matt met about 5 minutes prior to stage time.)

This group played out the entire two-hour show unrehearsed by jamming out random keys and styles and was rather well recieved. The band called themselves "Free Form Frequencies" off of the notion of playing freeform jazz/fusion totally off the cuff.

After the departure of Matt Carey, the band went on briefly with guitarist Alex McIntosh, and ventured into playing Real Book standards, Frank Zappa covers, and more structured originals. When Alex left for Ohio, the band went into dormancy while James and DJ pursued Rise of Tides.

In the fall of 2009, James met drummer Josh Kruger (commenting on his T-Shirt after algebra class), and they found that they had similar interests musically. Josh joined up, shifting DJ to his more natural home on the bass, and James to guitar.

The band continued under the Free Form Frequencies name for the next few months. In these few months, the band spent much time in the practice room evolving with the addition of a vocalist as well as in the kind of music we played. We had realized the the music that we started to make was so vastly different from the music were were making beforehand, that there was no way we could keep the same old name, and that something had to change. The band deliberated for some weeks until we had finally agreed on "Infusion". Shortly after the name change went official, we attracted trumpet talent Peter Harmon.

We are still evolving and growing, and enjoying every minute of it. Thank you all for your support, and we look forward to seeing your face in the crowd!
