Bio

Ingrid Wakes was formed by Jeff Suburu and Christina Gonzales in 2002. Meeting up in their hometown, Bakersfield, CA, the two moved their act to Orange County in 2003.

Raised by her father, an avid blues fan, Gonzales grew up singing along to her father's favorites, such as Muddy Waters, B.B. King and Aretha Franklin. Inspired early on by powerful messages of soul and honesty, her passion for singing and writing evolved. Outside the blues realm, Gonzales has an obvious gravitation towards rock and pop vocal stylings, but its evident from her nitty gritty vocal approach that the blues has made a lasting impact on her songwriting. Also growing up in a musical family, Jeff Suburu began playing drums at the age of five. By the time he reached high school, he had developed a love and natural talent for guitar. Suburu's interest in several rock and blues greats (Randy Rhoads, SRV and Jimi Hendrix, among others) has helped shape his distinctive sound, although not defined it. He cleverly incorporates a melodic twist into many of the band's tunes, while paying tribute to his blues/funk background.

Although introduced in high school, the two didn't have the chance to collaborate until a mutual friend invited them to join the same band in 2002. Gonzales and Suburu instantly discovered their unique connection as songwriters and formed Ingrid Wakes.

Soon after moving to Orange County, they landed a production deal with Omen Room Productions in Garden Grove, CA and began recording their debut album (due for release in early 2005). In March 2004, the band was nominated for an Orange County Music Award for "Best Indie" act. Also in 2004, the two teamed up with bassist, Gabe Rosales (Lynch Mob, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Milian, Moral Groove) and drummer, Mike Bedard (Souljahz, Slapbak, Moral Groove) to complete the lineup.

Located in Long Beach, CA, the band is currently working on their debut album and scheduling shows in the Southern California area.
