“One of Brazil’s most exciting new bands, Inky is the São Paulo-based quartet comprised of Luiza Pereira, Guilherme Silva, Stephan Feitsma, and Victor Bustani. Their synth-heavy, oddly catchy pop marvels couldn’t be further away from your average “indie dance” confection: this is pure rock ‘n’ roll, made with machines and lots of passion.”

Biography

The quartet that emerged amidst São Paulo’s urban sprawl in 2011 is easily defined as a rock band with a big passion for synthesizers. INKY gained notoriety by opening LCD Sundsystem’s last show in Brazil, It was the second gig in their lifespan and invites to perform came all thoughout Brazil after this event.

At the end of 2011, INKY won the worldwide competition “Obsessed with Sound” by Philips in which 1400 bands participated. The prize was the recording of one of the band’s songs, “No One’s Town”, with the Metropole Orkestra in Amsterdam and have it produced by Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones, Siouxie and the Banshees) and have it arranged by Martin Fondse, famous for his projects with the orchestra.

On January 2013, with a new formation and cutting out samples from the live gig, the band released “Parallels”. The EP was very well received by the critics. “Parallels” was considered one of the best materials of the year in the Brazilian alternative scene and whilst people were enjoying, INKY was invited to perform with The Vaccines, perform at Virada Cultural (one of Brazil’s biggest festivals), and gain the spotlights at Festival Circo Digital at the classic venue Circo Voador in Rio de Janeiro.

After a good amount of shows in 2013, the quartet released their first video clip, which is actually a short film, for “Baião”. The film won the award of best Brazilian video clip of 2013 according to the jury of the Music Video Festival (MTV, VH1, MIS).

In April 2014, along with Red Bull Studio SP and signed by UIVO Records, INKY released it’s debut album, “Primal Swag”, produced by Rodrigo Coelho (PE), mixed by legendary sound engineer Russel Elevado (USA) and mastered by Dave Collins (USA). The album was featured on several reviews at blogs and magazines like Rolling Stone, Billboard, Popload, Monkeybuzz, MTV, Folha de SP, etc. The growing audience and great album reviews led the band to tour all around Brazil in 2014/15 and play at some of the biggest brazilian festivals like Coquetel Molotov (PE), Festival DoSol (RN), Picnik (DF), Bananada (GO), Vaca Amarela (GO), Locomotiva (SP) and at Calvin Klein’s SPFW party at Hospital Matarazzo, along with Miami Horror. The album tour also included shows at CMJ festival (NY) and other venues in NYC. Currently, INKY is still touring and performing the “Primal Swag” show. In November, the band will do it`s first south american tour passing through Primavera Fauna Festival (Chile) and opening Wild Nothing`s gig in Peru while preparing songs for their upcoming album, scheduled to be released in the first semester of 2016.

Ice-O-Lator

Written By: Guilherme Silva,Luiza Pereira

Be my innovator
My own emancipator
We smoke the Ice-o-lator
The one collaborator

I feel your touch with a sudden rush
I feel the lush
Down my neck
Into my back
It's in my spine
It's in my spine
I can't deny

(You drop Below x2)

We could try
You're crossing the line
When things all fall by your side

(You drop below)

Massive

Written By: Guilherme Silva,Luiza Pereira

I've figured it out
You put a spell on me (x2)

Gap through in the scope
Pass me my bitter dope
This grid is off scale
Scalp in the nasty tale

I've figured it out
You put a spell on me (x2)

Echoes in the Grove

Written By: Guilherme Silva

Time is running
Running away from me
Sounds are amplified
In your stereo
Below,
The echoes in the grove
Acid in the notes

Time is running
Running away from me
I see the innocuous
Drive by in the face
but, hey,
Im always in the game
Call me back awake

Trippin' trippin', I'm trippin', I'm trippin', trippin' now
Im such a slacker!

Time is running
Running away from me
Sounds are amplified
In your stereo
Below,
The echoes in the grove
Acid in the notes

Fish Delay

Written By: Guilherme Silva,Luiza Pereira

You take a right now
You take it left
Somebody believe in my words,
You aim away

I turned you up then
Yu shook me down
Can anybody hear in my words
What I scream away?

I dream you bow down,
Then fade away
somebody believe in my words
You aim away.

I feel you lost now,
Or just stoned away
Can anybody hear in my words
What I scream away?

Days go by,
Gotta, gotta get'em all over
Over

You took it right now
You took it left
I'll start a spark inside the path
Hold on your breath

compress me in sound
Tax me the fine
Why do you always speak in signs?
Clear my sight

I dream you bow down
Then fade away
Somebody believe in my words
You aim away

Just like a puzzle
I figure out
The misconception of my words
Small talk and loud

Primal Swag

Written By: Guilherme Silva,Marco Guasti

City rules
Banking tools
Cayman Island for the Schools
Primal swag
Bit of cash
Backdoor mixing with the cast
Shiny palace
Picket fence
Running fields of golden grass
Eternal sweet drumming on the bass.

Photo snap
Royal rise
Corporate market overdrive
Earthly sale
Racial pride
Gross domestic genocide
Sunny rise
Wheel drive
Top position on the hive
Eternal sweet council of the bribe

This is the forecast and I can't see you winning
And in the end it will be alright
in the end we will all die

This is the forecast.
