"INLITE - A Buffalo Band Worth Hearing"

Inlite. The band, comprised of Jordan Dixon, Griffin Smith, Nick Kelly and Josh Little, was formed in Grand Island when the four members were only in high school. Although unsigned, their very clear talent will hopefully bring this Buffalo group the recognition they deserve.

Inlite's self-proclaimed influences include bands such as The Killers and Muse, after seeing their show at Mohawk Place during the Marie Antoinette CD release on March 9 it was clear to me that the group definitely translates a similar sound. California-esque, the group brought a feel to the dimly lit venue that traveled to a somewhat timeless place. Blending alternative rock from the late 1980s and early 90s, their clear and polished vocals along with consistently well-articulated instrumentals embellish their strive towards post punk rock and new wave.

It would be unfair to Morrissey to say that Inlite's vocals are anywhere near the level of The Smiths; however, in hearing them live there was a slight impression of "This Charming Man."

Inlite is definitely worth a listen and if you do get the chance to see them live, I doubt you'll walk away with a complaint. They're lively and clearly diligent musicians and after learning that they have been friends since a young age, it is clear that their bond and comfort with one another helped to make their performance seem almost second nature.

Check em' out! They're on twitter , facebook and there's also the band's official website .

"Don’t forget to write: INLITE goes nationwide this summer"

The rock ‘n’ roll ticker in the Buffalo.com offices has been churning out a veritable avalanche of local band news lately. Rolls of accounting paper with nearly-indecipherable script are pouring out of the side of our glass-encased telegraph machine. It takes all of our effort just to keep up! We actually thought SJ went blind for a few days.

Anyhow: the latest dispatch from the front lines of Paying Your Dues involves INLITE, a Buffalo four-piece with a taste for New Wave and Britpop.

INLITE released it’s debut EP, “For Future Reference,” on Tuesday and will have an official release performance on Saturday, June 11 at The Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda. Justin Tartick, the manager of the INLITE fellows, described the EP as “...a collection of danceable, pop/rock songs that have been carefully crafted by the band…the guitars, bass and drum are straight out of the UK music scene mirroring the sounds of Arctic Monkeys and The Bravery and the synths and vocals are eerily reminiscent of singer Jordan Dixon’s favorite musical era - the 80’s.” I like the ‘80s, too. Now play me some Smiths. I SAID PLAY IT.

Dixon added, “We all have our own influences but something we all relate to is the sound of the 80’s and bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode.”

Also: INLITE will bit the road this summer with a three-week, 17-city national tour this summer. No news on their official website about specific stops, bit they will apparently be making the rounds with fellow locals The Breathing Tree.

"Listen To This"

Inlite

Who?: Buffalo-based quartet, veteran of Robby Takac’s Music is Art Festival stages and now poised to release its debut EP, “For Future Reference.” What?: Synth-and guitar-driven power-pop/Brit rock marked by a youthful precociousness and bolstered by danceable grooves. Why?: These guys got together in high school, and have been fine-tuning their craft for several years now, during which time they’ve opened for the likes of Young the Giant, Cute is What We Aim For and the Psychedelic Furs. Such high-profile gigs have allowed the Inlite lads—vocalist/guitarist Jordan Dixon, guitarist Griffin Smith, bassist Nick Kelly and drummer Josh Little— to solidify a sound stage presence that belies their tender age. What’s next?: A CD release show at 6 p. m. Saturday in the Riviera Theatre.

"Inlite in strong lineup at X-wheels"

...The next set was Grand Island band Inlite, and there is only one word to describe Inlite: legit. Though the band only started up in 2007, it shows some serious promise as one of the best bands in the area. Inlite played an incredible set and singer Jordan Dixon's somewhat unusual voice complemented the band's alternative sound, which you'll no doubt like if you find yourself listening to bands like We Are Scientists or the Strokes. Inlite's set included the songs "Cascade" and "Cut and Dried." - The Buffalo News - neXt

"Inlite Highlight of Music is Art Festival"

(Article speaking of Buffalo's Music Is Art Festival, Hosted by Robby Tacac of the Goo Goo Dolls, and featuring all of Buffalo's finest musicians)

Inlite was unarguably the highlight of the festival. Throughout the day, band members could be seen walking the grounds in their coordinating vests and ties followed by throngs of Inlite groupies. “I just want to clear something up,” says lead singer and guitarist Jordan Dixon. “We are not the Jonas brothers. I don’t know the Jonas Brothers personally. I think our look was more Franz Ferdinand. We Are Scientist-esque.” Before their opening set, the damp marble steps were packed wall to wall with people, some even chanting for the band, and when Dixon arrived on stage the crowd went mad. The band played four sets (at the request of the audience) with all the bravado and panache of true rock stars, dancing around the stage and interacting with fans. But in spite of all the attention, Inlite was still humbled to be part of the festival experience.

“It’s an incredibly awesome experience just being up on stage,” says drummer Josh Little. “When we would watch the bands that we love we would be so inspired by them, and then what we do ourselves it’s something so completely different. I think that one of the best things is when you see somebody smile or when you make somebody happy with your music, you can make a difference. It’s really crucial to put a positive influence in the world, seeing somebody smile, making somebody’s day, that’s one of the reasons we like doing it so much I think.” - The Buffalo News

"Canopus CD Review"

Inlite
-Canpous-
CD Review - By Bob Silvestri
bobsilvestri@bestofwny.com

Hailing from Grand Island the band Inlite has been making a buzz for themselves in the last year and has capped it off with their new EP Canopus. The band, Lee Becker-keyboards/vocals, Griffin Smith-guitar/vocals, Jordan Dixon-vocals/guitar, Josh Little-drums/vocals and Nick Kelly-bass/vocals, have played at many Battle of the Bands and live shows that earned them a performance at last summer's Music is Art Festival that wowed the crowd. With an affinity for skinny ties and 80's British synth pop music and vocals the band should have a bright future. All five tracks, "Brightest Star", "Cascade", "Cut and Dried", "Your Place" and "Love We Send" are all finely crafted smart songs. Be sure to check out www.myspace.com/Inlite for more information. - Bob Silvestri - Best of WNY

Bio

The band, founded in Grand Island when its members were still in high school, arrived in fighting form with its own particular slant on the alternative rock of the late 1980s and early '90s. Within its first year, the group had matured to the point where, concurrent with the gradual building of its following, its own stylistic and songwriting voice had fully emerged.

Over the past couple years they've consistently been playing shows in front of no less than 150-200 people every show, but have also had their share of bigger shows with 500+ in clubs/venues. They have directly supported and played numerous outdoor festivals in Buffalo and Niagara Falls opening for bands such as Young the Giant, The Psychedelic Furs, Rusted Root, Lights, Foxy Shazam, Cute is What We Aim For, and many more.

Last June INLITE released their debut EP "For Future Reference" and have been working their asses off ever since then. In August they embarked on a DIY 2 week tour around the eastern US. They played shows in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Long Island, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Illinois, all while dealing with numerous problems with their 1994 Ford E250 piece of crap.

Since then they've constantly been writing and perfecting their sound, all while playing as many Buffalo and out of town dates as possible. "We're consistent visitors of Arlene's Grocery in NYC, they're always happy to have us come play." They have also pretty much claimed the dirty basement venues of Fredonia, NY as their own, always packing them to the walls and making everyone dance.

INLITE has big plans and shows no signs of slowing down. Don't be surprised if you see these guys headlining festivals and breaking through the billboard top 100 by next year.
