Bio

Erin and Stefanie met at a costume party on a houseboat off the Gulf of Mexico. Erin was dressed as e.e.cummings and Stefanie as William Carlos Williams. Their love for diminutive lettering and economy of language naturally made them fast friends. In fact, their first conversation consisted of just four words, “may I sit?” “yes.” After meeting again at an open mike in Chicago, Erin and Stefanie started writing songs and playing around town. As in miniature, they endeared themselves to audiences with their smart, sad, and sweet songs. in miniature puts on intimate shows and they obviously love playing together. In fact, Stefanie has been known to say that if they were tone deaf, they would play Scrabble instead of writing songs. (sometimes they do.) in miniature recently finished their first recording with engineer and musician, Dave Whitcomb of Stray Dog Recording. After one show following the ep, a friendly percussionist mused that everyone should be allowed to play with in miniature. Stefanie and Erin are looking forward to putting this plan into action, asking for audience participation and performing with a rotating cast of talented musicians. This summer, in miniature participated in the Music With Meaning festival in Chicago, and have just returned from playing in Baltimore. in miniature songs sound like being in the middle of nowhere with friends, feverish dreaming, familiar stories that you can’t quite remember, told by people long gone, and the harmonic last breath of two birds killed with one beautiful stone.
