"GrIndie Award"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Inopartners with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Vida Alerta"
"Vida Alerta" is a great eclectic album featuring music derived from a variety of world genres created by the collaborative effort of six Serbian musicians collectively known as Inopartners. Inopartners draw from reggae, Latin, funk, soul, electro, jazz, pop, rock. The group also sings in five different languages – English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Serbian, creating one of the most musically diverse albums of all time. The common bond of all these tracks are the great rhythms that drive them. The arrangements also feature interesting sound effects, great percussive beats, nice guitar work, and driving bass lines. The vocals deliver, as all six members of Inopartners lend their vocals to the album, singing about love and aspects of society. "Vida Alerta" is well-produced, so that all of the diverse sounds are brought fully to life. "So Nice" opens with wave sound effects, moves into a funky soul track with English lyrics and a great arrangement, then later moves to a quickly-delivered Spanish reggae sound. "Aqua de Coco" begins with more water sound effects, features Latin guitar, a great vocal delivery and instrumentation that makes the track catchy regardless of your native tongue. Inopartners should be praised for their successful cultural meshing that uniquely brings a variety of world genres together on one twelve-track album. Fans of eclectic world music, alerta su vida to this one.-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Review Team Check out Inopartners's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"GrIndie Award comes to Serbia"

Inopartners is a rock group from Belgrade which plays music derived from a variety of world genres like reggae, Latin, funk, soul, electro, jazz, pop and rock. It is interesting to note that this group sings their songs in five different languages – English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Serbian.

Recently they received the prestigious GrINDIE Award (internet equivalent of a Grammy Award) in the pop music album category for their CD "Vida Alerta" which was released at the end of 2007.

Inopartners also got through to the semi finals of the UK Songwriting Contest with their new single "Hey Love" which will appear on their second album, expected to be released at the beginning of 2009.

Expat.rs sat down with band members Marko Marovic, Duško Isakovic and Nikola Vukotic to discuss the band’s success as well as their upcoming plans.

Expat.rs: Inopartners was awarded with a GrIndie Award in 2008 for the category of Pop music releases for their album “Vida Alerta”. Can you give us more details about the award?

Marko: The GrIndie Award is the equivalent of a Grammy Award for independent music releases, hosted by Radiondy, the most influential web site for indie music. These are the best songs in various categories judged by Radiondy music supervisors. Since we have an American publisher, CDBaby, which takes care of our on-line distribution, we were able to get in contact with people from Radiondy, who also gave an excellent review of our album.

Expat.rs: Is there any other band from Serbia presented on Radiondy?

Duško: Unfortunately no, we are the only band from Serbia that has decided to do worldwide promotion using these methods.

Expat.rs: Since we are talking about independent releases, what is the level of the quality of these recordings?

Duško: Other bands that received a GrIndie Award have been engineered and produced by top industry professionals who have worked with Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and others, so the level of competition was high.

Expat.rs: It is interesting that a Serbian band decided to bypass the domestic scene and go straight to the international level. How did you come to that idea?

Nikola: Since most of us at times lived and made music abroad, we established a connection with musicians and producers who have worked with names like Prince, Giant Sand, Paul Vallis, Macaco, and we also created songs in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Serbian, so it was our logical progression to expand onto the worldwide market.

Expat.rs: Your album “Vida Alerta” was released in 2007, what have you been up to since then?

Marko: First, we protected our songwriters rights at PRS, which is the world’s leading society for songwriters and composers, then, for distribution of our music, we established contact with American publisher CDBaby and Spanish publisher Radiochango as well as with various online music providers like Apple iTunes, Amazon, Lala, etc…, and all of that while working on our second album, which will be released in the beginning of 2009. We also made a video for the song “Vida Alerta” and we just finished our second video for the new single “Hey Love” off of the upcoming album.

Expat.rs: Is there any musical difference between your first and second albums?

Nikola: Since we are a band which is dynamically developing in various musical genres, we have been exploring electronic music and retro styles in dance music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, so this album will be quite different from the previous one, but you can still feel that Inopartners spirit.

Expat.rs: Are there any plans for the domestic market, promotions, sales?

Duško: Considering that we established our initial positions on the international music scene, now we can also promote our work on the domestic music scene, so we will be more present in Serbian media. - Expat
