In Parentheses

In Parentheses has a unique blend of musical styles and interests. Some songs have a distinct bluesy feel while others are decidedly rock. Our use of the saxophone as the lead instrument has provided us with a unique, innovative sound. We are a sound to be experienced.

In Parentheses is a unique blend of many musical styles and interests. Our members have an incredibly diverse taste in music and that has helped us form and continue to develop the sound we currently have. We formed in March of 2006 at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln UPC Acoustic Rock Show. We were subsequently offered an electric show and we have been performing together around Lincoln and Omaha ever since.

Our style is difficult to describe; we play rock with a mix of blues, funk, and jazz. Using the saxophone as the lead instrument has given us a different outlet for experimenting with different styles of music. Some people have described us as a mixture of Incubus and Dave Matthews, plus one more part they can’t quite describe. Our recommendation is to listen for yourself.

We are all from Omaha and all of us currently attend UNL. Nick Goding is the lead singer and guitarist. Chuck Serfass mainly plays saxophone, but he also sings, plays keyboards and the banjo. Brad Marshall plays the bass guitar and sings backup vocals. Jonny Raftery plays the drums.

In Parentheses recently released a 3 song EP titled “Sidenotes” that is currently for sale from the band and at shows. We recorded in December at Bassline Studio in Omaha. We are planning to record a full-length album later this year.
