The best kept secret in music
Press
'written in the a.m.' is 9 tracks of explosive melodic hardcore, with some impressively harsh screaming and some nicer emotive sung moments. fierce opener 'bright eyes under blue night skies' brings to mind bands like a static lullaby or atreyu, whilst 'madison' starts off very like thursday, and has a memorable chorus when it gets there. the 7 minute progressive number 'the beggars' shows off some pretty impressive daryl palumbo (glassjaw) type vocals, and check out the angular, more technical guitars on 'stick figure makeover'.
with plenty of metalcore riffery thrown in along with the caustic, spitting vocals, this album lands in the heavier end of the emo-hardcore bracket, but thats not to say the more delicate moments aren't extremely agreeable and catchy. it's not new territory, but it is done extremely well, and is well worth checking out if you like bands like thursday, glassjaw, a static lullaby, etc.
