Below are music industry professionals that In Session has conducted business with in a performance capacity. - Entertainment Associates

"Paul "Magill" Smith"

"If you missed their (In Session) set, you missed a real treat! These guys looked and sounded like they were right at home on the big stage." - Innbrook After Hours performance with Delbert McClinton - Richmond Music Journal

"Garrison Lekham"

"The only thing In Session needs is to be heard by more people. This band has one of the most unique and diverse sounds I have ever heard! When I received their press kit I popped the cd in my car and ended up being late for a business meeting because I couldn't resist hearing every track on the disc, and continued driving until I had." - Richmond Coliseum - Entertainment Manager

"Dawn Thomas"

"These guys have played all over Richmond and have quite the following. With their distinct Southern Cali Reggae influence, and sound that you can't help but get up and dance to, some might wonder who else can hang with these guys on stage...they've had a lot of positive response to their music. Maybe it's something in the water, or maybe it's the incredible sound they've allowed Richmond to become home to. The next time you run across the name In Session...make sure to go wherever they're playing." - Earshot Entertainment - FOX TV

"Stuart Capell"

“In Session is one of those rare bands that actually has a recognizably unique sound…If In Session performs “Superstition” it’s not a Stevie Wonder song, it’s an In Session song that Stevie wrote. And it’s that difference that held my interest. Musically, the group has a way of arranging that is both consistent and constantly changing.”

“The amount of energy that’s coming off the stage is quickly contagious; most all of the people I was surrounded by were moving to the beat and I’m convinced many of them might not have even been conscious of it.”

“It was obvious, watching how the crowd on Friday night responded, that In Session knew how to “work the room”, but I didn’t get the impression that this was a group best suited to the club scene. They belong on festival stages, in bigger venues where both the audience and the group can spread out a little. This is music where the dancers aren’t going to be comfortable moving in place, they’re going to want to throw their arms out and cover some ground.”

Bio

The evolution of In Session is rooted in its groovy flavor and the musical diversity of this seven piece ensemble. By combining elements of rock, reggae, soul, and funk, In Session has carved its own signature into the music industry, coining a highly distinctive style now known to its audiences as Groove ~ Rock ~ Reggae.

Since its inception in 1999, In Session has aspired to new heights within its local and regional music industry. Right in their hometown of Richmond, Virginia they have already distinguished themselves as a band that can and has thrived in both smaller, more personal venues, as well as in arenas that are larger, and more commercial. This attribute showcases the diversity and quality of the music this group brings to the stage and studio alike. The esteemed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Richmond Coliseum, Innsbrook After Hours, the Richmond International Raceway, and FOX TV are among the venues that have solidified this band’s passion for performing at the highest level.

Additionally, In Session has gained valuable recording experience, yielding two highly respectable products. Their first CD “Under the Moon” was created from studio sessions conducted in August 2001 and displays the group’s musical prowess in its early carnation. The CD has enjoyed success including radio play on the local stations 106.5 The Beat, and XL 102.1 (now 102.1 X). As for In Session’s latest recording endeavor, real diligence and commitment showed through with the completion of its best full length CD to date. Speed of Sound Studios, along with Grammy Award winning Airshow Mastering, set the stage for In Session to come away with ten top shelf tracks now known as “ALLWAYS”. “ALLWAYS” has been well received by Richmond’s radio community by way of Y101 and WRIR, respectively, and remains a favorite among In Session’s ever-growing fan base.

Having developed a solid original music repertoire, and a genuine love for performing live, In Session feels stronger than ever and possesses a real hunger for further development and exposure. Influences such as Carlos Santana, Bob Marley, Sublime, Stevie Wonder, Superdrag, Paul Simon, the Grateful Dead, and 311 are among many who fuel their passion, and have contributed to the depth of their music catalog. And whether you are a fellow musician, club owner, entertainment professional, or even a music enthusiast, you should know that In Session is motivated, alive, and excited about what the future holds. They realize that not every band has what it takes to make it to the top; however, this is certainly one group that is willing to reach for the stars, and work hard to become them!

A Special Note:

In Session has had the distinct pleasure of sharing the stage with such notables as The Wailers, Delbert McClinton, Soldiers of Jah Army, La Revancha, Dave Matthews Tribute Band, Sabor Latino, Modern Groove Syndicate, DJ Williams Projekt, Mandorico, Copper Sails, Three Quarter Squeegee, Solid Gold Fish Bowl, Crucial Elements, Jubeus, 59H20, Pennyshaker, Sin City Revival, Gill, 5th Generation, Passafire, The Movement, and many more.
