Bio
The duo of John and Kathy Dyson, on saxes and guitar respectively, has been together for many years and formed the basis for larger groups including our latest sextet - The Jazz Department. We have toured the UK and Europe, performing at the Sorgues, Ulm, Avignon, Gent festivals and at innumerable venues in Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Hungary, Denmark and Switzerland. We are influenced by the Jim Hall and Bill Evans duo: and by the contrapuntal approach exemplified by JS Bach aiming to make out music harmonically rich and melodically interesting. Above all, it is joyous and accessible to a wider audience than just jazz.
