INSOMNIA Has been together for about a year, These two met by chance at a bar (of course musicians!) and it was love at "First song". Since then (and in their short time together) they have played all over New England and just about every kind of venue you can think of! No, this is not your typical "Girl Folk Only Act" (even tought they brush on it) these girls rock literally! And the music they play is as diverse as they are, all you have to do is look at their Set List to see that. Able to play many instruments and versitile enough to sing just about everything, INSOMNIA does just that. Stef a long time Blues singer and Triana a Jazz vocalist are the perfect blend. Their musical backrounds allows them to perform any style of music they chose to providing quality sound.

Triana

Singer/Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
Triana has been a professional musician since the age of 15. She started her music career when she was in elementary school, playing flute in classical flute ensembles and orquestras and also learning classical piano, in her native Chile. She started sonwritting at the age of 12 and by her teenage years she became a well rounded performer when she moved to the US and joined her high school showchoir and transition from Classical music and Jazz into musical theatre. While in high school she also learned how to play guitar to enhance her songwritting skills. She picked up percussion along the way and likes to play any instruments she can get her hands on. In 1999 tried of seeying the local music scene male dominated, she decided to do somethng about it. Here is our interview with her:
Q: Why did you form INSOMNIA? And why the name?
A: Well, Since I was old enough to go out I noticed that everywhere I went the music scene was primaraly male dominated! Don't get me wrong I like those bands I'm friends with most of those musicians, I just think there should be an alternative. The only girl groups (or groups that have women in them) around this area ussually play Folk or something along those lines. There wans't anyone before us playing cover songs originally sang by man and I think we sound good when we do it.
