"WJRR DJ Comments"

"...the vocals have a Morrison-esque feel to them." I=nterlaken is "on their way to something cool." -- LT, WJRR 101.1FM Orlando, FL

"Florida Music Festival 2008 blog: Day 3"

I=nterlaken @ Central Station Bar-- May 17, 2008

Reminescent of Echo and the Bunnymen, and Night Kills the Day, I=nterlaken would've been better suited performing on a stage with lots of crazy lights and a better sound system like Voyage as opposed to Central Station to enhance the moodiness their music creates.

I really like the songs they've written, but these guys are kind of like a lil' gem or diamond in the rough that needs polishing. Their banners with cool logos that they perform with on stage help attract attention and add to the look, give 'em a little more time and they'll be the full package. - MetroMix.com by Alicia Lyman

Bio

Instead of just some boring story of how the band met and decided to become a band, blah, blah, blah, they offer the following. Kelly & Rey had been playing together on and off in different bands for 10 years. Unhappy with their bands at the time, they both decided to quit their bands and start I=nterlaken. After going through a couple of singers and drummers, they found Chris, a Neal Peart fan who can bang with the best of them. Then the extended search for a singer led to Juan Carlos, a trained jazz singer from NY City who's voice blended with the music as if it had to be...

I=nterlaken means "between the lakes" and is symbolic of the musical path the band takes, forging a path between and staying out of the lakes of sugar-sweet pop and ear-splitting metal. The band is a culmination of four vastly different musicians, with a common thread - a passion for making music. The artists' differing musical tastes intertwine to create a mix that is innocent, refreshing and familiar - while still indulging in a more primal alternative edge common with all.

I=nterlaken is influenced by a wide range of musicians, including, The Cure, STP, The Smiths, 3 Doors Down, Offspring, NOFX, The Cult, Weezer, Supergrass, Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Seven Mary Three, Radiohead, REM, Rage Against the Machine, U2, Johnny Cash, Oasis, NIN, and Mogwai. The result of this collaboration is a modern alternative rock with just a touch of an earlier time. In various songs the listener may be reminded of The Doors, Echo & Bunnymen, Iggy Pop, or Interpol.
