"Pittsburgh Music Scene, Part 2"

In the Wake of Giants is an all instrumental band that has created it’s own unique sound by incorporating ambient rock with hard guitar riffs backed with the beat of tribal drumming. The band has released two demos and plans to release their self-titled CD sometime in the near future. They are constantly invited to perform shows and have been called “one of the most innovative groups of young musicians in the Pittsburgh area.” - rustybridge.com

Bio

In the Wake of Giants formed early 2006 after band members Drayton, Dan and Justin's former band fell apart. With another gig in line, they called upon friend Sam to have a 30 minute jam session, and then In the Wake of Giants was born.

Originally looking for a singer, ITWOG played under another name, LostStolenDestroyed. They would not turn down shows even though they felt like they needed vocals, and eventually dropped the idea to become a fully instrumental four piece.

ITWOG pulls influence from many groups, including Russian Circles, Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, Radiohead, The Salters, This Will Destroy You and many others.

They've played with invitation at local venues such as The Rex Theatre, Mr Smalls, Garfield Artworks and FLUX, the Three River's Arts Festival's indoor night-long gallery.
