"Into the Real EP review - Sometimes Lately"

“Six songs are available as a sort of business card on reverbnation, showcasing what Into the Real can do: Baby has got a really nice kick, with its 5/4 time signature beat driving the whole song, followed by the sparse, harmonica-ridden folk of Sometimes Lately, which reminds of the work of artists such as Joni Mitchell. Little Children with the Power of God blinks an eye to the late Beatles, with its more marked pop-rock orientation and vocal harmonies. While River of Love and Bundle are intimate ballads, fueled by guitar arpeggios and harmonica leads. Sound and Rain tastes like the folkier side Blues Springsteen, only with female vocals. These songs share a very simple, straight forward approach that helps the feeling to get out and outlines the nakedness of the arrangements, an approach that works really great for Into The Real! ” - Shake!Zine

"INTO THE REAL: An Emerging Folk-Rock Giant!"

Into the Real is an emerging folk-rock giant. Their diverse line-up delivers outstanding live performances that do not lack any element of a memorable show. Their singer Juliana has a unique voice which conveys the message of every song with unmistakable purity and sincerity.

Being an all original folk band, Into the Real does not settle for one particular sound or niche, merging various directions of their material into a well-organised and strategically planned live set. You could keep listening to them perform and lose yourself in a cross-continental journey.

There is no mistake that Into the Real’s every performance is a result of quality song-writing and tireless rehearsals: The band works together as a collective, allowing each other enough space both in the frequency spectrum on stage and within their song arrangements. This is definitely something worth praising, as we see so many new bands fail because of poor stage presence.

No matter what background you come from or what your music preferences may be, Into the Real is one of those bands that make you want to buy their album as soon as the last chord of their last song fades out. - Jamsphere, The Indie Rock Magazine & Radio Network

Bio

Into the Real is an all-original melodic rock band based in Wheaton, IL.
Their sound is truly unique owing to the diverse backgrounds of the musicians. While songwriter Dan Smolla brings in folk, americana and rock vibes, Juliana Cesano's deep melodic voice embodies all the warmth and fascination of her native Argentina. Meanwhile, the impeccable rhythm section is represented by a conservatory trained drummer Fred Reich and a seasoned jazz musician Steven Hashimoto. Bassist and producer, Steven Hashimoto, has been a highly visible part of Chicago's jazz scene since 1976. He has also anchored the late-night jam sessions at The Green Mill on Fridays for over 16 years. He has recorded with many local bands, and appeared at almost every jazz venue in Chicago.

The band members mix all of these personal features to let their own brand of sound come alive, defying musical conventions: folk and americana elements are tainted with jazz influences as intricate sonic patterns and unusual melodies develop over the songs. The song-writing focuses on space and simplicity and is characterized by open guitar tunings, while the lyrics are influenced by a deep love for American literature, mysticism, and poetry from various cultures, especially South America.Continue Reading
