Introspektra EP - May 13, 2017

“They're hip-hop, roots, rock, alternative, funk, & jazz all rolled up in one fat joint.” -Cedric Clinton, Oahu-based hip-hop artist.

With their sonic cocktail, Introspektra aims to liberate listeners from all walks of life. Born and raised in the melting-pot state of Hawaii, Andrew Simbahon, Antonio Burruso, and John Sabugo came together in 2016 after the close of their previous musical projects. Andrew’s guitar aggression inspired by from the school of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Antonio’s colorful moving basslines reminiscent of Jamiroquai’s Stuart Zender, and John’s rhythmic ventures inspired by Chris Dave and SOJA's Ryan Berty spark a musical fusion welcomed by fans of Hawaii’s rock, hip-hop, reggae, and jazz scenes. Other influences of the band include Hiatus Kaiyote, Sublime, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Roots.

As 2016 came to a close, the band found themselves with enough material and listeners to head into the studio with Nelson Cho of Lightworks Recordings. Their self-titled EP recorded was released in May 2017. Leading into and following the release, the band performed steadily for the rest of 2017, earning spots on KTUH's Monday Night Live, HPR's Applause in a Small Room, UH Manoa's Aloha Bash, and Star 101.9's Made in Hawaii and Unsigned Hawaii events.

Introspektra ended the first weekend of 2018 sharing the stage with Ron Artis II, Mike Love, and Sashamon on Kauai for the Homegrown Festival. In the same month, the band opened for The Expendables and Hirie shows at the Republik. Since then, the boys have been spending 2018 writing material for their next release. Looking ahead, the band aims to deliver their island-born sound to listeners all across the Pacific Ocean and beyond.
