"1ST ANNUAL HUP XMAS PARTY"

"Auckland’s Invisible Threads followed, and brought with them the next interesting instrument; the Theremin. This was in no way a gimmick, however. The songs were brilliant, and the band were enthralling, and their performance would have been strong even without it. However, the Theremin’s distinctive sound and use took the songs to a whole other level, making the music wash over the listeners, and watching it being played was mesmerising. The band reminded me somewhat of the 3Ds and Chug from the ‘90s, but at the same time they were something completely themselves. This is a band I will be looking out for more closely in the future. " - Hamilton Underground Press

"Video: Machine is Dead"

Invisible Threads have let loose the excellent lead single from their upcoming album along with a video created by Ducklingmonster Futurian (aka Beth Dawson). The now-four piece, which ties together the talents of Melissa West (drums), Dane Taylor (bass), Brent Bidlake (synths) and Samuel Moore (guitar, vocals), have been strengthening their sound since forming as a duo in 2010. Blending together elements of psychedelia, surf and noise rock, the hurtling single 'Machine Is Dead' is a promising sign of things to come from the album.. - Undertheradar

"Video Vacuum - Crystal Stilts, Orlando Furious, Invisible Threads, Naked Bodies"

Here is a duo from Auckland playing a warped drone pop a la Wooden Shjips being bled out into the veins of Japandroids (yes I'm into my band comparisons today - sue me). Its standard band-playing-in-a-room fare, with footage projected over them, weird unrelated footage woven together, some slightly Satanic imagery subliminally jumping forth. Above all its a loud as all get out song that really promises a lot. The scrawling squall at the last ten seconds that shows the underbelly of Invisible Threads as masked madmen is a nice touch also. - Sonic Masala - Vice Blogging network

"Invisible Threads"

Invisible Threads been hibernatin', crafting their noise surf rock for a couple of years now. Sam is one of the prime movers in Badd Energy, and Melissa was the original skin-hitter for the Coolies. They been hatchin' ideas as a 2-piece for mosta their existence, but they've decided to up the dose recently, with the addition of bass gluesman, Dane "dynamite" Taylor aka DDT, he of Voodoo Savage & the Savages, Evil Ocean and Smokin' Daggers. Buzzing sonic off-kilter surf geetars, swirlin' throbbin' ancient synth action, and relentless stutterbeat. Like Sonic Youth meets weirder stun surf fuzz end of Mister Heazlewood, with snatches of Jesus & the Mary Chain and a pinch of Suicide.....
They's already busted out three videos for some recently recorded Threads material, and have upped the live encounters prodigiously in recent times. - Blood Feast - Andrew Tolley

"Listen to Invisible Threads New Track of Cantering Psych Rock"

Self-described as a 'rock, noise, surf' band, Auckland four-piece Invisible Threads are one of the more interesting New Zealand acts currently operating in the noisey psych realm. Ahead of their first trip to Australia, they've sent us through "Lust to Dust, a new track that ticks all the boxes including those two important ones marked 'good' and 'I'd play again'.

What began in 2014, as a two-piece recording project between flatmates, has undergone some line-up changes to develop into its current four-piece unit that creates a melodic racket with loud guitars and modular synths.

Following Oxide, an album released on New Zealand's best label Melted Ice Cream (Salad Boys, Dance Asthmatics) "Lust to Dust" develops their love for warped and busted guitar rock. - Noisey

Bio

Auckland’s Invisible Threads originated out of a recording experiment involving two flatmates and a
reel to reel machine. The results were an EP of three songs titled “Dead Lion EP” which quickly
gained them attention and pushed them towards playing live and the band have been going strong
ever since. They have more recently more recently incorporated vocals and a variety of mind
melting modular synths.

The best and most recent example of this is their recently released album “oxide” available now
through Melted Ice Cream records which they are currently touring around New Zealand and Australia.

It has already been a particularly great year for live shows for the band that recently saw them
open for Bonaparte (Berlin) and The Dance Asthmatics (Christchurch). Both shows saw the band
play some extremely electrifying and well honed sets. That combined with their recent headline
shows playing to eager crowds has permanently cemented Invisible Threads as a live band not to
be missed.

Invisible Threads make music for the most sensible of reasons, they are creating a type of music
that they want to hear and feel is currently not as present in recently released music as they would
like. Taking cues from Psychedelia, Surf, Noise rock and punk, they seamlessly combine all of this
into joyously off kilter, Dark songs that you can party to.
