Io

Until last November Io was called the Green Typewriters; the transition from GT to Io was a gradual one, beginning with a movement away from keyboards and various instruments to a more guitar oriented sound. The transition was finalized by bringing Johnny in on the drums and seth on guitar and bass. Now Io has a fuller more intricate sound, while maintaining their predilection for melodic songs that address themes involving the bizarre and other-worldly.
The centerpiece of Io's sound is the versatility of Gioja's vocals; one moment hauntingly resonant the next visceral in the best rock and roll tradition. Gioja deftly fronts the band like a composite being acting in unison through a single vessel.
