"Bands take festival test"

Music stars of the future rocked their way into the limelight as they battled it out for a place at an Oxfordshire music festival.

Performers under 18 gave it their all at Bayards Hill School in Oxford, hoping to wow judges for a place at the Rock and Pop Festival in April.

The festival, run by Oxfordshire County Council’s music service, aims to give youngsters a chance to perform on stage. Organiser Nick Wright, 31, picked eight performers from the 40 musicians who auditioned because the standard was so high. He said: “The experience of playing in a large venue and to a couple of people who are looking at the performance critically is very productive.”

Colleen Sweet, 53, of Woodstock, watched her son Daniel, 13, perform in his band Ioneye.

She said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring forward young talent in Oxfordshire.” - Oxford Mail

Bio

Britpop/Indie band based in Oxfordshire, formed around 2008. Members are Dave Allen, Jack Belmont, Dan Sweet and Will Finnerty. Looking for gigs/festivals. We played the Riverside and Glasthalleigh in 2010, which are both local festivals. Hopefully our EP will be out within this year.

We as a band are a group of friends who are 16 and 15 who love to play music and are always in search of ways to push ourselves. We have also been told we are better then lots of adult bands of our genres and we give a good live show which get the crowd moving!

We are experienced with gigs as we have played in many local and not so local pubs. Festivals and carnivals.

We are called ioneye at the moment but are in the process of changing our name to 'Red Letters'
