"Ira Perez feat. Heat Roc - Can't Deny It"

Ira Perez's sets were consistently amazing. People really enjoyed her. Especially considering that she's a 17-year-old high school senior. (Wow, did I feel old when she told me she was born in 1991.) Michael, aka "Heat Roc," hung out for most of the weekend and stepped up to the mic for this song every set. It was quite the crowd pleaser.

Bio

Ira Perez, a nineteen year-old native Houstonian, is known to many in the music community as a triple threat. She has been blessed with the talents of mastering multiple instruments (guitar, piano, and bass), possessing a captivating voice and ingenious song writing skills. Through the confluence of her gifted abilities she has recorded approximately 30 original songs and 7 covers which include an array of genres from alternative, pop, dance, and rock to soul/R&B.

Writing since she was 15 years old, her music has been inspired by such artists as Adele, Corrine Bailey Rae, The Beatles, Lauryn Hill, Muse, Erykah Badu, and Carol King. Her music and lyrics disclose a sense of vulnerability and enlightenment which are heartfelt. Her sound encompasses the ethereal of Sara Bareilles, the soul of Sade, the jazz of Norah Jones and the acoustic sensitivity of John Mayer.

Ira’s reputation continues to build as she has earned the attention of several local radio stations and has been asked to perform at a number of events such as the Bayou City Arts Festival, Creative Women Unite and for the City of Houston’s Mayor’s Office of Special Events. Since 2009, Ira has played acoustic sets three to four times a week at the Potbelly in Sugar Land & UT Austin. Ira has gone from being her local high school sensation to winning in the 2010 Houston Press Music Award’s for ‘Best Female Vocalist’. She has been the recipient of many awards, however this was one of her greatest achievements as she was in a category with several other talented female artists and voted by thousands of Houstonians.

While attending the University of Texas at Austin, Ira continues to write and is currently recording and co-producing another album with other collaborative producing studios in Houston. She is very passionate about her pursuit as an artist in this industry and continues to work hard to ensure that her music is heard and felt in the hearts of all those that listen. DJ Baby Jae, from CBS Radio’s Hot 95.7 says it best, “Good to hear a real voice that has the ‘It’ factor. But it’s even better to hear a voice that connects with people. Ira is pure talent! Young, beautiful and a breath of fresh air….”
