Irene Antoniou

hey =] I’m Irene Antoniou, and im a singer/songwriter from Sydney, Australia. My singing career began ever since I was miniature, always dreaming, and reminding family and friends of what I aspired to become and what I wanted to do. Till this day that dream is still an aspiration and is not even close to fading away; the reality of my dream didn’t sincerely kick in until I took on the stage at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games - Closing Ceremonies, with both Australian & Greek Choirs. Following this enormous and unexplainable experience, I completed 3 years of Vocal Tuition with the amazing and inspiring Vocalist/Vocal Trainer – Stephen Baker, who I owe a lot of gratitude to. Since the age of 12, I have been using my creativity towards writing and producing songs – majority of my songs range from topics about love, loss, friendship, and the wonderful wonders of heartbreak. Taking part in different talent programs, talent quests, I have performed many songs from covers to originals, singing in both Greek & Japanese; performed in my high school band, a children’s festival of thousands of people, and performed at many more individual venues. The very first song I recorded was when I was 14 years of age, titled ‘Do I Need You’, which I’ve always dreamt of as my first release…but with 8 years of songwriting experience, the choice of my first release is not even close to being inevitable. My musical style ranges and is influenced from many genres of music, such as rock, pop, r&b, country and jazz etc. I love listening to all sorts of musical genres, as I feel I obtain all the different sounds and create my own musical styling. The next stage of my life where I began recording officially again was at 17 years of age, which is a long time since 14 years old. Though during that period I performed as much as I could, completed high school, and began studying Music & Entertainment Business; which carries me onto today…having recorded ‘(Another Dupe) Again’, and ‘Fallen’ I have really captivated my sound, my being, and exactly what I want to be as a professional singer. One of my main purposes of being a singer/songwriter is to enthrall my fans into my sound, and what I write; I want people to relate to what I write and let it heal them as they go, from anything they are feeling, or dealing with =]. I want to thank Nicholas Cole, for helping me to finally record again, and really help me do what I love doing most; John Kapos – my best friend, and the photographer of all the graffiti shots he took of me, on our holiday in Melbourne, they are tops honey!! my family for giving me guidance, support, and their enthusiasiam for me to keep going with the love of my life = music =] and to all my existing fans, I appreciate all the support and the drive you all give me which allows me to give you all much more =] There is much more still to come… Enjoy. =] Irene xx
