"Ep Review - Ross Clelland, Drum Media"

' Utterly honest rootsy folk that wears it's social conscience openly without the sloganeering of, say, John Butler, who they namecheck in their influences - along with Wilco. This writer never wants to see those two names linked in one sentence ever again. They know what they are doing and in Luke Prout have a singer who delivers the right degree of raspy urgency, even allowing for little Dylan-esques here and there. Their quality has attracted the perhaps mixed blessing of Garth Porter's interest. They're good, real good..'

"Mother Turpentine Review -Dom Alessio JJJ"

'Touches of Dylan in the vocals and Ryan Adams in the arrangements. It's solid, country-inflected folk. I can easily picture this being performed in a country pub. '

Whether they are writing songs about lost love, inner-city angst or political injustice, Sydney blues & roots combo, Iron Bar Hotel have a sound which is attracting many superlatives. However, the one that seems to get bounced around most frequently is ‘earthy’.

Having just been asked to open for LA natives Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros during their BDO sideshows, 2011 is shaping to be a huge year for juke-joint minstrels Iron Bar Hotel. 2009 saw the release of their debut Ep,which Drum Media described as ‘good, real good’.Hillbilly-reggae track, ‘Lost at Sea’, featured on multiple roots compilations alongside the likes of John Butler Trio, Sarah Blasko and Jeff Laing, while 2010 has been spent writing and recording what will be their debut album set for a mid 2011 release.WIth a broad mix of roots sounds, the band's new material is rich and varied in themes and smacks true 60's southern rock sounds.

While touring the nations East Coast in 2009 comparisons were made with the likes of The Allman Brothers,The Band ,Dave Matthews Band and Wilco yet their fusion of all aspects of roots music gives this band a sound all their own.

IBH came together late in 2006 when invited to get a set together for The Tamworth Music Festival. Adding bass player Ben Norvill and drummer Dylan Jones, IBH went on to support Karl Brodie and Australian Roots legends, The Flood. Since then, they were invited back for 2008 and 2009 and along the way have supported The Wilson Pickers and Wes Carr.

IBH recorded their debut Ep in 2009 with legendary recording team Garth Porter and Ted Howard, which has received a number of positive reviews including the following:

Utterly honest rootsy folk that wears it's social conscience openly without sloganeering...They know what they are doing and in Luke Prout have a singer who delivers the right degree of raspy urgency, even allowing for little Dylan-esques here and there. They're good, real good..'

Opening track Lost at Sea has featured a number of times on Triple J’s Roots ‘n’ All show,Triple M and was recently on high rotation on Radar Radio. Lost at Sea is also featured on Foghorn Record’s Homegrown Roots 4 compilation and their Sounds Like Cafe compilation with John Butler Trio and Sarah Blasko.

Lead singer Luke Prout recently returned from a short visit to LA where he performed solo with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes and French neu-folk star Soko.
The band are extremely proud of their new material and can't wait to have you stomping and hollering along to tracks about father-in-laws with shotguns, werewolves battling vampires and having nasty thoughts about nasty women!
