Bio
There is no question that Cascadian Doom Metal has seen a surge in popularity in recent years. With bands such as YOB, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, Wolves in the Throne Room and Samothrace popping up throughout the Pacific Northwest, a sound has developed that once again places the Pacific Northwest at the head of underground heavy music.
In true accordance with their moniker, Iron Worm have set to entrench themselves in the Cascadian doom scene with The Martyr, out now on Beneath Entertainment. Iron Worm’s debut full-length – a 4-song, 58-minute doom epic – sees the group pushing their own boundaries further by introducing clean singing and Hammond organ into their brand of dissonant, down-tuned, crawling-paced doom. The result is a gripping mix of dramatic melodic interludes and crushingly low, distorted climaxes that are at once inciting and emotionally draining.
In support of The Martyr, the band will participate in a national tour alongside label-mates YOB, as well as a festival appearance at Roadburn Festival 2011 in Amsterdam.
