Bio

Deep in the heart of creativity a new artist was created from the essence of sound and lyrics...Isaac M. Colon III. Isaac was raised in South East DC and first began writing to escape the harsh reality of Benning Terrace better known as "Simple City" which in 1997 was the heart of DC gang wars that earned the district's former distinction as the "murder capital of the nation". While his peers began indulging in the negative forces around them Isaac found poetry. As a teenager he was mentored in the art of poetry by local poets and joined the non-rofit organization DC WritersCorps. Once his skills were honed he entered the worlds of competitive poetry "Slams" where he dominated the competition and went on to represent his city in national competitions for over 6 years. In the heart of giving back to his community Isaac went on to mentor youth like himself in the arts and still does workshops to this day. His journey as a musican began with a band called Spazmadik where wrote songs as a vocalist. After getting mainstream attention the band broke up and Isaac took on an alter ego "Rhapsodist" named after a one-man show that he performed at the DC Hip Hop Theater Festival. Looking for a new challenge, Isaac hit the hip-hop scene with new flavor and originality. With the lyrical content of a poet and the performance art of a trained actor Isaac is a new breed of emcee. He has shared the stage with such acts as The Roots, Aaliyah, The Last Poets, Amiri Baraka, Nikki Giovanni, Common and Saul Williams.
