"Isabel Lacatus"

A classically trained piano prodigy is about to release her first song to the world this weekend. The Berks County 11-year-old gave WFMZ a sneak preview of her music and the video.

A year ago Isabel Lacatus was playing classical music and singing opera.

Her latest work is "Outside the Box."

"I just love to express my feelings because in opera I would sing somebody else's song," said Isabel Lacatus, "Now, I sing my own songs. It just feels more comfortable."

She said she wrote the R&B song one day at the pool.

It represents me just being a simple girl and I always had a dream to be a star, to write my own music," said Lacatus.

Isabel showed the rough drafts of her first song.

"I think all of this classical everything that I've been through. I think I have so much melodies in me," said Lacatus, "I think melody is the easiest thing."

She recorded, "Outside the Box" in New York and filmed her first video at home. Both will be released Saturday, August 27th at 3 o'clock online on iTunes and YouTube.

"I didn't think I could write a piece myself," said Lacatus, "But I did it and now I really believe I can do it. I'm going to compose all my songs."

She said she has enough ideas for a whole album. It could be out at the end of the year. copyright 2011 WFMZ-TV, Maranatha Broadcasting Company, Inc. - News 69

Bio

Eleven year-old singer Isabel Liliana Lacatus, working with renowned, multi-platinum producer Arty Skye and the SkyeLab Music Group, is currently recording her debut album. Her first single, "Outside the Box," written and composed entirely by Isabel, is set to release late 2011 with the full-length album shortly following.

Isabel was born March 18, 2000, in Berks, Pennsylvania. Deep inside her voice is a mystery of sounds and an old soul, drawing comparisons to artists such as Alicia Keys

After beginning piano practice at the age of three, Isabel is now instructed personally from pianist Dr. Pan and receives vocal coaching from Grammy Award nominees George Dyer and Leigh Nash.

Even at a young age, Isabel has accomplished more than most do in a lifetime and has garnered many accolades. At nine, Isabel performed Fantasia In D Minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on November 15, 2009 at the Yocum Institute for Arts Education concert and placed first overall. Also at nine, Isabel performed at the competition at Reading Musical Foundation and took first place and later played with the Philharmonic Symphony of Lancaster as Soloist and won first place to play in different concerts in Beijing, China.

At ten she was invited to sing a duet with George Dyer, a Broadway singer, and to accompany him on the piano. Later that year Isabel placed first at the Reading Musical Foundation and also placed among the top selections at the Competition for Rising Stars Concert. She performed again at the Reading Musical Foundation competition and once again walked away with first place.

In addition at ten years old she auditioned for the Berks Classical Children's Chorus and was accepted. Isabel was also featured in newspaper articles and an interview on news television.
