Check out our amazing Model Arielle
The video for ‘Hawkmen’ is an epic journey through an ancient forrest and into a dark and salacious night club that pulses with beautiful people and kinetic sexual energy. Shot over two days at Mink Bar in St Kilda and on location in the Dandenong Ranges, the video is presented as a self contained story however is the first in a series of narrative music videos that are being produced for Arielle that will link together to form a grand meta-narrative.

"Interview with Arielle"

1. What does Arielle mean? and why did you choose that name?

The name Arielle represents being from the ocean and travelling. I've traveled so much and I've found that no matter where I am in the world, the ocean always makes me feel at home.
So the name has a very strong likeness to my personality

2. What type of music do you listen to?

I listen to such an eclectic bunch of music. Being a musician I hate putting one genre above another. I grew up listening to a lot of european trance music (my father is German) as well as the old rockers (Nirvana, Deep purple, AC/DC), pop and folk music.
But as I got older I found my interests moving more into punk, progressive trance, electro (not to be confused with edm!!) and classical music.
I was classically trained on piano from a young age, so I've always had a soft spot for classical music and strings!!
Currently I love pop, dubstep, dub, electronic, indie... pretty much everything really!

3. Which musician do you closely relate to in terms of musicality?

I love researching and studying other musicians. Everyone has such a different story in terms of success and failures. I really identify with Ellie Goulding, the way she writes songs is quite organic (and not dissimilar to Justin Vernon from Bon Iver) She'll go and spend a few weeks or a month away in northern UK tucked away in a little cottage, writing and producing with her producer and other musicians. Sometimes she'll write stuff on tour, and other times she'll think of something in the back of a cab.
I think a true artist takes advantage of the creativity wherever it may hit them. So she's definitely been a big inspiration. I also love her style of music whether it be in acoustic form or fully produced.

4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Great question! hopefully less struggling musician, and more well-fed musician.
I've never actually stayed in one place for longer than a year, so I know that I definitely won't be living where I am right now, but I don't know where I will be!
I'm working towards making music a full-time career choice, and slowly phase out the modelling (Although I do love it!)
It's a strange world that we live in, where the entertainment industry can't yet quite fathom having someone that is capable of two different jobs. It's a tough gig for actors who want to be singers, or vice versa. But it's not impossible, so maybe I can still be both!

5. What is your favourite food/restaurant

Fooooodddd! I fondly remember my best meal ever, being at a restaurant called Bedrock in Singapore. It's off Orchard road (Orchard blvd perhaps) and I had hands down the best meal of my life. From huge tomahawk steaks to the most delectable tomato soup, perfectly cooked russet potatoes and countless other dishes, I've never eaten so well in my life!
I have a few german dishes that my Mother and Oma cook, that are on my favourite list. Otherwise I really love being introduced to new things.

6. Name the most memorable trip you've been on or place you've been to.. and why

Most memorable place, now that's a tough one. I've lived in over 10 countries over the past 11 years and traveled to about 25.
Each one has very special places in my heart. New Zealand is definitely the most pristine and gorgeous place to live in. The air is so crisp and the people are friendly and inviting.
Otherwise London has been one of my most favourite cities to visit. I had the most incredible time and was shown a really beautiful side to such a gorgeous historic city.
Hong Kong has also always been top of my list of favourite places. I would recommend a visit there in a heart beat. It has such a great mix of western and eastern influences.

7. Why do you think it's important to be a role model? who do you hope to inspire?

I think with all of the doom and gloom we see on the new and in the media, there aren't enough positive influences going on. I hope my music inspires other budding musicians out there, and also anyone going through a tough time or someone just looking to have fun.
A lot of my music is themed around love lost and broken hearts. But I also incorporate a lot of my travel and party lifestyle. One song in particular is simply about having fun at night, and not wanting the sun to come up because the night holds so much fun.
Being a role model to me doesn't mean putting on a facade and being this "pristine" and fake version of myself, but It does mean encouraging others, helping where I can, and doing my best to show that hard work pays off.
I read a beautifully sad quote on instagram that said "Why are girls so mean to other girls, when they know how hard it is to be a girl"
I'm a huge advocate of girls supporting each other and removing this huge jealousy that social media has deemed "ok".
We should be happy for each other, and strive to reach what others have that we want, instead of feeling anger or resentment towards someone else.

8. Name one thing about you that know one else knows about you

I'm a huge bookworm! When I'm not writing my own music/manuscripts I'm usually reading 2 or 3 books at one time. - Peonies and Honey

Bio

Isla Noir (formerly known as Arielle) is a singer/songwriter who has travelled independently over the last 6 years on various modelling contracts worldwide. She has a strong presence in the fashion industry, booking various international campaigns and walking for some of the most prestigious shows around the world including Gucci, Bvlgari, Max Mara, and Queen Sirikit of Thailand. She is well versed in dealing with media on a daily basis and handling a constantly changing environment.

With a voice as sweet as honey and dazzling looks, she commands a strong presence both on and off the stage, and is set to take on the world like no other Australian artist before.

In 2010 she appeared in a Thai TV series, making her somewhat of a sensation in the country and more recently played a role in the Australian feature film “Any Questions for Ben?”

Classically trained in piano since the age of 6 and self taught in guitar and drums, Isla Noir is always writing her own music and worked alongside Andrew (guitar) and Kris (drums) in Melbourne, Australia to fully produce all of the tracks on her EP - Hawkmen.

Her music style is composed of heartfelt acoustic ballads on piano, and a hybrid of Dubstep/Pop, which she strongly believes is the future of pop music.
Drawing from her experiences/observations both at home and overseas, her songs form a beautiful balance of escapism, and true stories.

She has performed live at the Decjuba 2012 Winter Fashion launch, Crown Casino Showroom, Athenaeum Theatre and Chapel off Chapel in both private and public events.

Her most recent performance was at Fashion TV club in Singapore, where the one-off event was extremely well received.
Her shows consist of understated acoustics, crystal clear vocals and hints of electronic bass and beats to create an alluring atmosphere. Band members and stage settings are always elegant and sophisticated with a graceful feeling to compliment the music.

She co-produced and filmed the music clip for her song “Hawkmen”. The clip is a self contained story but also intended to link with a series of five future clips that will tell a complete story for the album. The Hawkmen music video can be found on Youtube and the facebook fan page.

This year she aims to release a new EP with both acoustics and electronic songs.
