Bio
Islington Boys Club are a four-piece from, you guessed it, Islington, North London. The staple of their live performances is brilliant Indie Rock 'n' Roll; as thrillingly aggressive as the Subways and as anthemic and raw as the Kings of Leon's first LP. Couple this with the groove of the Black Keys and you've got a blend that will get you up on the dance floor and remind you exactly why you fell in love with Rock 'n' Roll.
It all started back in early 2000 when Silvester (guitars) met our first singer at a bus stop, on the first day of art school. After a couple years they got round to recruiting some fellow members, two technically and musically gifted amigos known as Eddy Teddy (drums) and Tristram Bawtree.
Many crazy a thing happened such as getting stuck in Bournemouth overnight, after playing Sixty Million Postcards, getting kicked off stage by the police at our own residency! finding out what happens when you drop a fender valve amp down a flight of stairs (at the Metro, or was it the Oh! Bar), having a demo recorded by a drug addict in a cave overlooking Brighton promenade and playing many a show down there attracting some Indie Label interest.
But what happened happened and they found themselves growing apart, by early 2007 the band had disintegrated. But Silvester and Teddy could just not re-adjust to life outside of a sweaty rehearsal room so they put about planning a return and re-forming the band.
They soon realised that they needed a singer so went looking for one luckily stumbling across the brilliant Andy Lovelee, an Australian who's presence, performance and aura have been compared to the likes of Bowie, Harry and Jagger. With addition of an extremely talented bassist that went by the name of De Vriend, they went on to début their monolithic yet modern Indie Rock 'n' Roll sounds upon some of the very dirtiest clubs in London in late 2008 and recorded parts of their set. The band are set to go from strength to strength in 2009 with their residency at The Legion, Old Street, the planned release of their first E.P. in April on IndieCity Shuffle and then a small number of UK-wide dates to follow, so sure you'll be seeing much much more of them in the not too distance future.
