"Walk Album Review"

Have you have ever just picked something up and thought….. wow, this just sounds so right. Well, today I had the pleasure of finding such an album.
Walk, the sophomore album from Israel Cannan, simply took my breath away.
From the opening bar of "Set Me Free", you know you are in for something truly special. There is a maturity of voice and sound in this album that belies the fact that this is only Cannans’s second album and that Cannan himself is still just 25 years old.
With Walk, Cannan has delivered a richness and depth that should have taken many tortured years of soul searching and introspection to perfect. There are so many elements to his music; it simply does not seem possible for someone so young to have created something so complex, layered and incredibly inspired.
As you wander in and out of these thirteen tracks you will pause to wonder, to question and on the odd occasion, even sing along. There is so much to take in, you will be forced to play this album over and over again.
Picking a standout track on this album is no easy task. With tracks like "Rise", "Set Me Free" and the album’s title track "Walk' , you will be forever discovering something new to appreciate.
It would be easy to make comparisons to Dylan and Vedder, Cash and Zevon, but in doing so you would be doing a disservice to Israel Cannan. Here is a young man with a truly incredible voice, a man who with this album has shown himself to be such a gifted songwriter and talented musician….. in other words someone who deserves to stand by himself and have the world say…… my god, that guy sounds like Israel Cannan.
I could go on and on about how great this album is, but all I really want to say is, do yourself a favor and go buy this album. You will not regret it. (I might even promise to eat Molly’s hat if you do)
Review Score: 9.5/10 - The AU Review

Bio

In 2010 Israel Cannan travelled 20,000 kilometers around his homeland Australia singing songs in the streets and capturing hearts in the process...

This year he decided to trade the streets for the stage and headed to the UK armed with a new album "Walk" in which he wrote, recorded and played all the instruments on. After only a week in London Israel was showcasing at Cargo alongside fellow Australians The Jezabels, Little Red & Luluc at The Aussie BBQ.

From there came shows at some of London's most iconic venues including The Troubadour, Borderline, Bedford where many of the greats have etched a name for themselves in times past. Elsewhere in the UK Israel was playing sold out shows with the likes of Passenger & Sarah Blasko where he continued to win over audiences with heartfelt melodies and powerful lyrics.

Meanwhile back in Australia National Broadcaster Triple J were ?featuring Walk on their Unearthed Radio podcasts and The AU Review even named "Walk" as #19 on their top 40 Albums of 2010 (Worldwide).

After being invited to showcase at festivals in both the UK & Europe over summer along side some of worlds biggest acts including Jason Mraz and Newton Faulkner Israel returned to London to write, record & hone his skills with another talented and ARIA award winning artist, Alex Lloyd.

Throughout it all still making time to stay true while busking in the streets. One things for sure, It's been quite a journey from the Australian outback to the bright lights of London & with many more shows being announced it looks like Israel Cannan's Walk is just getting started...
