Issues Da Great

 Born on March 23, 1983, tenacious, motivated and creative emcee powerhouse Ivan C. Carty Jr. was born in Brooklyn, NY. Being born where the heart of hip hop resides, “Issues Da Great” emerged from a hard upbringing and long nights writing about life and its challenges, politics and his heart’s desires.

“I was always the jokester and having crazy fun with people. They would always use to tell me, ‘You got issues!’ My mother always said that I would be great at what I do so I added those two together and made a name for myself,” he explains when asked how he got such a unique rap alias.

At the humble age of 12, this self taught young emcee began writing secretly, gaining interest and knowledge in music while listening to heavy influences such as KRS-One, Jay-Z, Nate Dogg and Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Biggie and more currently Rick Ross. It wasn’t until he was about 16 when things took a serious turn from writing secretly to laying down tracks and pursuing rapping full force.

Growing up in Brooklyn was not easy due to many distractions but music was always captivating enough to allow him to transcend high above his surroundings and stay focused on a promising future ahead of him. Eventually being mischievous wasn't as exciting as listening to the radio or the latest mixtape. His passion, talent and seriousness began to fully develop and this birthed his unique style and original flow which continuously engulfed many people through his first Single  TiredFreestyle ”. Performances at places such as coast2coastlive as well as the NextToRiseTVShow  have hosted him and many in number have heard the flawless execution of his music live. His boldness determined that he was ripe and his persistence is what proves he is unwavering in his mission to spread real music. His new is highly anticipated and is already impressive in its development.

It is the grind makes the rapper who he is, but the hustle that keeps him at the top and at the top is where this gifted lyricist plans to stay.
