Ital Athletics Soundsystem by Sebastian BIGGA Harzmann is the consequence of a decade in the international dub-circus as trombonist for the U.K-Dub-pioneers Zion Train. The impressive power of rootical soundsystems, visually and in sound - the mainly positive vibes in roots and dub-dances - the excited audiences on tour -- those were the influences that lead to Ital Athletics Soundsystem.
The intention behind it is the creation of music that can carry strong messages even (or especially) whithout lyrics. Driven by bass and drums, held together by skanks and chops, topped with sweet, sometimes very old, melodies (through all music genres) - all served through a manipulative audio-mixer - this music shall move the bones and awake the fantasy of the listeners. It requests a lot of fantasy, cuz dub in our interpretation will cut melodies and lyrics at some unexpected point, take it into repetition, so that the listener has to conclude the message in his very own head...
The Dubs come out of Bigga´s portable studio in form of a mac book and headphones. He creates via midi the song structures. Live instruments played by friends and collegues:
trombone (Bigga), bass (Adalid Andaluz), guitar (Tavi, Sugar Brown), melodica (Benjah), melodica (Bigga, Benjah) and in future drums (manolito/Pedro Adopaca)
from nyabinghi via rockers/steppers to digital roots and dubstep, you define it yourself, since genres have no limits for us...
Ital Athletics Soundsystem worked with such singers as OMAR PERRY, FITTA WARRI, SISTER MINOO, LENGUALERTA, OLINKA and SENORA KONG. a vinyl 10" release is being planned for summer y2k11.
Our intention is to levitate people physically - to make them dance on meditative riddims, using their own creativity to morph music into a new vibe... Ital is vital - dub is the heartbeat of our music - we refer to the roots of reggae, the early days of dancehall and hip hop, rock and punk - but also to the digital dimension of sound.
