Biography

Greg was born in 1989, and raised in Kent, England. He began playing guitar at the age of 14 with the early influences of punk bands such as Blink-182, Green Day, and Alkaline Trio. Not long after he joined his first band but left soon after due to creative differences, a string of bands after proved fruitless before he created the band Sixty Days with friends, this culminated in Greg’s first experience of gigging however the members all moved on and the band split apart.

It was then that he began experimenting in solo work, and with different genres ranging from pop-punk to experimental electronica. He began a degree in History at Northumbria University in 2007 which was the birthplace of his next band Riddlez 3 with his housemates. At the same time he created his solo project ‘I,Timebomb’, beginning as an acoustic project with a variety of acoustic covers and some of his own work. It was put behind Riddlez 3 though while the band began attempting to make a name for itself in Newcastle Upon Tyne. After the band effectively ended in 2010 he moved back on to ‘I, Timebomb’ and in May 2010 he recorded his first EP introducing his first professionally recorded music.

Lyrics

Every King Needs A Queen

Written By: Greg Surtees

This street needs new life, it needs to shine,
But since you left, its not felt the sun,
I'm its King on this rooftop, enjoying the parade,
Of useless vandalism, a teenage charade.

Standing on the rooftop, screaming your name,
The rain crashes down and I dream you're here,
This street is so empty, blackened windows so bleak,
But in this cold rain, I can't feel alive.

What would it take to get you back by my side?
Restore the Queen to the King's right hand side,
The throne is yours if you choose to take it,
Put breath in my lungs, and hope in this street.

The floods are coming, and I have no ark,
The drains are clogging, and a river's roaring,
My home is dying and you left it this way,
I scream out loud for it just to echo away.

What would it take to get you back by my side?
Restore the Queen to the King's right hand side,
The throne is yours if you choose to take it,
Put breath in my lungs, and hope in this street.

What would it take to get you back by my side?
Restore the Queen to the King's right hand side,
The throne is yours if you choose to take it,
Put breath in my lungs, and hope in this street.

Draw Your Pistols At Dawn

Written By: Greg Surtees

Need a resolution,
To stop myself becoming the victim,
It's happened twice before,
And I can't take another fall,
I dunno where I stand,
In this game of risk and chance.

So if you're ending this tonight, can I just say,
They were best days of my life and I won't throw them away,
Without a fight so draw your pistols at dawn,
And we'll dual until you scream no more.

Your voice is breaking up,
Don't cry, I'll make it easy,
Your hand is slipping now,
And I'm falling away,
If I could lie,
I'd tell you that this doesn't hurt,
When eye to eye,
All I think of is those lips that I yearn.

So if you're ending this tonight, can I just say,
They were best days of my life and I won't throw them away,
Without a fight so draw your pistols at dawn,
And we'll dual until you scream no more.

Sailing The White Flag

Written By: Greg Surtees

4 years hurting could drive you mad,
And it nearly did, but I've got news,
Can it really be true? Is it over?
We've spent so long in the dark that I find it hard,
To believe what you say, when you say there's no more,
Pain and suffering,
Cause I spent my teenage years, split apart,
Between 2 worlds at war.

So bring out the white flag,
Shine it bright,
Take my dignity,
Just say it's over.
(x2)

Do you think this is the end of it?
Or will I have you crying down the phone again,
Cause he's done it again, and turned my world,
Upside down and the wrong way round,
I've been replaced, been betrayed and spat on,
All because I refused to take a side,
I'm staying on the fence, it's been home now,
For 4 long years and I like it how it is,
So I'll pay my due and lay my flowers,
On the grave of true happiness.

So bring out the white flag,
Shine it bright,
Take my dignity,
Just say it's over.
