IVE

IVE was born as Ivan Nunez on January 2, 1985. He describes music as an ever present entity in his early childhood. Whether it was the smooth melodic Latin sounds he would hear at family gatherings, or the hard hitting early 90's hip hop his cousins would blast in their room, it seemed he could not escape what would eventually turn into his passion.

In mid-2009, IVE recorded himself rapping over an instrumental and uploaded the video to YouTube.com. After a great initial response to his video, he began posting up to 2 videos a week. Viewer after viewer would give him a five star rating and a great comment, citing his versatility and flow as rare and enjoyable attributes.

On a tip from a friend, Mpulse a producer from New London, CT, was directed to IVE's YouTube channel and was immediately impressed. A meeting between IVE and Mpulse took place soon thereafter, and the two clicked. Digitally released on October 26, 2010, "The Early Warning EP", is IVE's first foray into the music industry. He cites his influences as The Wu-tang Clan, Tupac, Nas, Biggie, Jay Z, and of course Eminem.

IVE has collaborated with other artists spanning across different genres, allowing him to spread his creative wings. IVE says his work portrays the confidence of the Notorious B.I.G. and at times is reminiscent of lyricists such as Tupac, Nas, and Eminem. His music has received a positive response from listeners, and has been noted as a great addition to the Connecticut music scene. His versatility and lyrical ability are proof that hip hop is alive and well.

IVE has worked with Major Flow, the producer and founder of Tha Donz Productions, Howerd, Kiubbah, Rook, J.M, and Karl Jen of Eclectic Records. IVE has been featured on the Uglyradio.net internet radio station, performed at the Wild Bull in Paterson, NJ, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, John Street Grill in New York, NY, and Toad’s Place in New Haven, CT. IVE was recently awarded “Best in Show” at the Local Hip Hop Showcase at Toad’s Place on December 8th, 2010.
