Biography

Ivie Anderson is an Indie/Christian rock band out of Western Massachusetts. The band was originally started by Ben Perdue and Mike Strain who both wanted to create a sound that was different than the current scene. Starting as an acoustic band, they grew by adding bassist Jeff Bailey who fattened out the sound, and John “Bub” Walsh who added drums. After about 5 months of this lineup, guitarist/singer Chris Bailey joined the band after playing fill-in at a show. They have since played several local shows with bands such as Koi, Blueprints of the Heart, The Gallery, Me in Motion, Fat Soul, and Palaris. The band also recently played four sessions at Winterblast 2009 in Rumney, New Hampshire as the headlining act.
Ivie Anderson utilizes personal beliefs and experiences to create positive music that will hopefully touch and inspire others to live their life for God. Members are: Mike – Keys, Vocals, Trumpet; Ben Perdue – Guitar, Lead Vocals; Chris Bailey – Lead Guitar, Vocals; Jeff Bailey – Bass; John Walsh – Drums/Percussion.

Lyrics

Rearview Mirror

Written By: Mike Strain

She packs her bags with a vengeance
Because she feels she's forgot everything
On her camera there's memories of warm summer days
Lying thrown about outside the suitcase
And I’m sitting out here on the rooftop
And I hope you don't hear this too late
And I hope Catholic school treats you better than the clouds overhead
It’s starting to rain

And I can assume by my watch
That you're headed southwest
Towards the border and Charlotte's ahead
Off the freeway
Billboards and signs advertise a new life
Don't you forget the kids you left behind
Adjust your binoculars, coming in clearer
We're all planning road trips to come down
And visit our friends we haven’t forgotten so soon

And I hope you're still praying to Jesus
Because you know I’ll be praying for you
Like the rosary beads that hung from the dashboard
You've seen they were never my strong suit
Come back to Massachusetts
Like the words from your favorite song
Come back around so we can pretend we don't miss you and you're never gone

And I can assume by my watch
That you're headed southwest
Towards the border and Charlotte's ahead
Off the freeway
Billboards and signs advertise a new life
Don't you forget the kids you left behind
Adjust your binoculars, coming in clearer
We're all planning road trips to come down
And visit our friends we haven’t forgotten so soon

Just look in your rearview mirror
Just look in your rearview mirror
I'll be right there

I thought that i had found
Friendship a day too late
But tomorrow's another day
So close your weary eyes
And hold the ones you love tonight
If just for a day
If just for a day

And I can assume by my watch
That you're headed southwest
Towards the border and Charlotte's ahead
Off the freeway
Billboards and signs advertise a new life
Don't you forget the kids you left behind
Adjust your binoculars, coming in clearer
We're all planning road trips to come down
And visit our friends we haven’t forgotten so soon

Tendencies

Written By: Chris Bailey and Andrew Scripter

Hey there.
It’s been a while since we last spoke
I know this world has changed,
But do you still feel the same
As you wrote?

‘Cause honestly I have the tendency
To view things like they were

Can we turn this around?
Can we find a better way?
‘Cause my heart is giving out
And you know that I can’t stay

I want to let you know
The words I’ve been meaning to say
But you’ll never really hear them
Anyway…

A World Outside

Written By: Ben Perdue

I know you hide behind so many things
You’ll never show yourself to me

Outside who knows who you could be
Are we afraid to see?
The sun that shines over me
Or is it just me?

A house with so many windows
Has so many places for me
To make my escapes from
Telephones and transitory needs.

Outside who knows who you could be
Are we afraid to see?
The sun that shines over me
Or is it just me?

When you’re alone
With the trees and the leaves
And your thoughts stray to being merely
Transient as clouds, so free
And you never make a sound

Dandelion Wine

Written By: Mike Strain, Bub Walsh

2am and i'm still sitting at my window looking out
City lights they seem so faded, closer now
In a glance it's not the same
I'm on my knees thanking God it's not you, oh my God it's not you
I pray for him but it's still hard and
I'm still trying to see how this is in Your plan
But homemade cards and hospital rooms
Work in ways that i could never understand

And i pray to God to help us through this
All of these painful times show me
We can't do this alone
And i pray to God to help us through this
All of these painful times show me
We can't do this alone

Bring back the days when we thought nothing could go wrong
But it's too late
Crashing cars inside my head fade away
And far above the noise i hear a voice
Our hearts are restless till they rest in You
Till they rest in You
And all the screams, you could've died
We're breaking down and it feels like
We can't hide behind these broken walls
and if we don't last the night
May we meet again where He'll dry our eyes

And i pray to God to help us through this
All of these painful times show me
We can't do this alone
And i pray to God to help us through this
All of these painful times show me
We can't do this alone

Our hearts are restless till they rest in You
